August/September 2013 Fleet Discussion

According discussions with the TWU the protections expire the day before the amendable date.

Here is the information:

1C:
Didn't I just mention 1C? But scope doesn't expire, it just reverts back to the higher bar, which is still lower than the one in the IAM fleet contract. Cripes, if we had 1C in our fleet contract, another half dozen stations may be class 1!

COOLING OFF PERIODS
23. Q: What happens during the cooling off period? A: Normally the NMB invites the parties to meet during the cooling off period in order to further mediate an agreement. These meetings are often referred to as "public interest mediation" or "super mediation."

24. Q: What if no agreement is reached during the 30-day cooling off period? A:
If no agreement is reached by the end of the 30-day cooling off period, the parties are free to exercise "self-help." This means that the Union is free to strike or engage in other activity, and the Carrier is free to impose its last best offer or temporarily cease operations or engage in other self-help activity, unless a PEB is created.

Definitely a good resource link you provided. regards,

here something ive been trying to find the answer for

in my station our union rep has said we will be getting the 2% raise in july but it will only be for this yr given that we do not have an agreement or a TA in place but i do know some on this board have said no we wont. one guy who used to be in the negogiating team dz said that we definitely will be gettin the 2% raises but the way he put is if your not topped out you would get that whats the actual answer to that

the contract is interepeted as we would get the 2% beyond the amendable date but that was 09 10 and 11 in january but on pg 117 it states beginning the first pay period in july 2012 so the quest is do we or do we not get the 2% its really an odd language but according to dz we will get it and also accrding to our union rep

tim i understand what your saying there. but what i dont understand is where our union rep is coming from with regards to the 2% which we already got in jan 2009 10 and july 2011 but on pg 117 it says beyond the amendable date but i really dont like how the 08 was written bec its odd how it says ALL BASE RATES WILL BE INCREASED BY 2% FOR ALL EMPLOYEES EFFECTIVE THE FIRST DAY OF THE FIRST PAY PERIOD FOLLOWING JULY 2012 if there is no tentative agreement
but again it was written by canary bird and allen i hate labor hemmenway

robbed,

I think DZ was trying to say, IMO that is, that for those who are not topped out, they would still get their annual raise on their pay date anniversary. Not an all emcompasing raise in July of 2013. But then again DZ was part of the negotiating team that got us this CBA that we work under now. So I guess we will wait and see if we actualy get the raise or not. I am of the opinion that we WILL NOT be getting the 2% in July.

pj i believe that is what he was saying too and i just wait n see if it will be reflected in the 2nd pay in july but i do not count on it. its just really a f***d up the way it is written bec some folks in the station includ the union rep are under the impression we will get it but i never count on it given us mgmt history of dealings and shady wheelings

You need to read the next page, there is an asterisk in the language which leads you to the next page, which explains more.

700 if youre referring to page 115 of the fsa 08 contract line 8 note: has 2 asterik it says 2% percent pay increase beyond the amendable date..

and on pg 117 as ive noted before but the question is is that for those who are not topped out yet bec on pg 117 it says all employees yet on pg 115 it just says beyond the amendable date

thats why i at first thought that yes we would get the 2% increase but couple of the team member on the negog team and tim said no

Robbed, what I do not understand is that in the past 2 years that you have been posting you have a history of asking the same question, in varied approaches, over and over and over again. When is the last time you contacted your AGC, FO? Also, page 115 of the CBA states:

Note: ** Two (2%) percent pay increase assumed beyond the amendable date. (NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING)

Listen and listed good.....the company will not give any topped-out hourly FSA anything more than they have to. Page 117 of the CBA was put in there with the company knowing that a TA is never or rarely reached in 12 months. As I have stated before....contact your AGC and get your questions answered. One last thing Robbed...."Are you a shop steward or active in your station of BWI other than postings?" -- just a thought.

And one more thing Robbed.......TN may be a PITA, but he at least stimulates conversation from the membership (some agree and some do not). Being a parrot is counter-productive and takes up valuable thread space.

solidarity.... let me tell you this.. you have no idea who i am or anything like that. so back off.. secondly i dont post to post and take up valuable threads ive agreed and disagreed with TN on here numerous times and yes ive also sent him and the nd team members private emails regarding questions but i also look at 700 postings and he has a back ground in union labor so dont sit there and tell me what to post etc bec i will post what i want when this is your own board then do as you please.

as for what i do in my station and as to contacting fo and agc etc yes i do keep in touch with fo regarding my own grievance and i happen to be able to help a number of my fellow co workers in my station when they dont think something is right.. do you?

i always carry my 08 book with me and as far as my questioning i just simply ask what some of my fellow co workers ask me and i try to answer them and if i cant i get the answer any way i can

anther thing the union and the mgmt have been negogiations since june 2011 its been over 24 months now and the company cant even settle with their own yet they can make BACKROOM DOOR DEALS WITH THE TWU AT AA NOT THE IAM AT US GO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT
SO DONT SIT THERE AND TELL ME IM A PARROT THATS COUNTER PRODUCTIVE IVE BEEN ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE

Listen (Smarty).....I know exactly who your are. I am not telling you not to post but beating a dead horse is counter-productive. You present well thought-out arguments but the repeating of a question alienates the membership. And long-winded responses make anyone's argument seem less important. Can you please answer the question that I asked you? Active locally?

I've recently heard a very sad rumor ....

it seems that our management at least here in the PHX station (probably everywhere I bet )is going to be forced to re-apply for their jobs due to the merger ...

talk about saying THANK YOU for helping to make US Airways into a company successful enough to rescue AA from BK ....
