cb or prez how are the negogiations coming along since the last time you and the team met do you think there is progress being made at all with the help of the natl mediation board?

You do realize that it's the Republicans that are all about the cheap labor, right?

In the past that's how it used to be ,but people are no longer stupid , their eyes are starting to open as to the true costs

The republican party is the only thing left standing between the blue collar class and being completely overwhelmed by forgien labor ....

I don't think so. The right wing and their allies like the Koch brothers and the like want to decimate unions. Once that happens there will be no middle class because wages will be brought down to Walmart type levels. The last presidential canidate supported this type of free for all but yet kept his money offshore. We will be working for yuan instead of dollars. He whole goal of the last thirty years was to drive down the cost of labor. But first you have to kill off the supporters of labor first and sell the right to work agenda. It is almost complete but two forces stand in their way: teachers and government workers. Wisconsin showed the way against a bought and paid for governor. We must fight this onslaught.

Freedom, I understand your concern about the so called illegals. But they aren't the main problem. The problem is Wall Streer and corporations are making tons of money but won't share the largesse with the workers who toiled to help make the profits.

Right To Work and all of the other union busting laws must be stopped.

At any rate, immigration nor any other political subject caused the iam to sell out our brothers and sisters at united with a scab job killing ta.When the bargaining agents quit using the leverage of our union to cash in for its own political gain, thats when it will have a chance to deliver what we are paying for. regards,

The UA T/A was an absolute disaster. What are the implications from this POS agreement for the organizing efforts at DL for ramp and F/A? "Come join the IAM, pay dues, you'll have no scope (outside a few stations), and the highest medical contributions in the industry". I mean seriously what does this demonstrate to the CO cargo workers at CLE, EWR, and IAH that are losing their jobs now that the IAM is onboard, since sCO had mainline cargo but the IAM gave this away years ago at United. All the stations outside the seven with scope protection are subject to outsourcing. Again so the sCO people elect the IAM only to find out they no longer have a job thanks to the worst scope in the industry. When will they take a strike vote or even schedule more negotiations with the company? So far they have done nothing, just "prepare for negotiations" with the company. Seriously?

Preparations to return to negotiations at United Airlines
Preparations to return to negotiations at United Airlines continued this past week. It has been more than a month since the IAM and United jointly petitioned the National Mediation Board for their services in our negotiations. To date there has been no response from the Board. There has been no mediator assigned to our talks and therefore no schedule created to resume. Our desire is to return to talks and find a solution to the issues that have prevented us from reaching an agreement with United that is acceptable to our membership. We want to follow the rules of the NMB but we also think productive talks could be held between the company and Union even if a mediator was not available. We want to discuss this possibility with United and if they agree we believe talks could restart. The establishing of a survey system that is secure and accurate is taking more time than is acceptable. We believe we could reenter talks and have meaningful discussions on several major issues without waiting for a full, detailed survey of members; but use the results of a survey to reinforce the importance of, or identify, issues that have to be addressed before another agreement is reached.

Meanwhile at USAIR they have done nothing with the company, kicked the can down the road. Held a few symbolic pickets at CLT and PHL but thats it. No strike vote, only recently asked to be released when they should have done so sometime last year.

Kev, do you think the POS UA agreement (hailed as "monumental" by GLR Ira Levy and "the best airline agreement" by Airline Coordinator Tom Brickner) will come up in the DL campaigns?

Josh

josh.. i seriously doubt they would get that if the iam does win at dl and represents the fa i think the fas being as strong as they would force an industry leading contract... as for the ramp there i do not know but lets wait and see if the two groups are successful at organizing.

as for us i do not thing we will get contract like that but i could be wrong... i would like to see how our folks are doing and to see if theres any progress being made in the economic section... without a doubt the combining of the twu and iam will make for an interesting times esp at contracts..
a union agc is trying to schedule a visit to my station this up coming week and i hope to get some new info if possible.. we will see

Josh--

F/A's at DL will have their own District, so the missteps of 141aren't really a factor in the discussions right now.

As for the ramp, I'm sure the T/A at UA will come up. The company (or Ford & Harrison) will make sure it does...

Kev,
Sito Pantoja said "I'm very fond on this district, as you can see by the people who get prompted from here". Wow. So that's basically admitting this is all about keeping the gravy train the union officials and selling out the membership in subpar agreements. It's not just DL 141. Sito embraces 141 probably because they have the most members for the transportation department?

ever hear of an over ride by 2/3 vote in the house/senate freedom they can over ride a veto secondly stll waiting for u to answer orgac quest.

orgac i think freedom supports the natl right to work after all he did support throwing his own co workers down the river without the life jackets in the 2008 contract.. he has no heart thats for sure
robbedagain,
He does indeed support the National Right To Work Act and any proposed legislation the Republican Party puts forth. It's quite evident. Yet he proclaims to be a uinionist; a champion for protecting represented jobs. He has a history of putting me first at the cost of fellow members' jobs. A position that goes against the very the grain of unionism. By definition he is a hypocrite and a deceiver. One who should not be followed IMO.

i sure as heck wont nor will ever follow him he is a supporter of that crap yet he sure bloated about the pay raises in 08 only to watch his coworkers get tossed out without the life jackets pathetic soo sad bro you know

Kev,
There is already propaganda discussing the UAL POS T/A:

Why did the United-Continental workers reject their latest contract proposal?
  • Unionized workers have a voice on all proposed
    qmark.jpg
    contracts on compensation.
  • Unionized workers have a voice on any proposed rule changes that affect them in the work force.
As a Delta employee, do you have a voice or a choice in these matters?

If you answered NO, then why not create a voice and a choice?

Duh. Actually, they voted it down because it was a pathetic agreement.

freedom.... it was a republican president who fired all the atc union folks... you know the republican president ronald reagan... he himself use to be in the acting world and in a union... he takes office in dc and thereafter he fired a sh!tload of unionized atc folks
He actually was the President of the Screen Actors Guild.

I am well aware of the impact that the visa program is having on American workers but that mostly affects white collar workers and it doesn't even come close to the massive inflow of illegal workers who are driving down blue collar rates across th board ...

Face it the Democrats WANT to legalize illegal immigrants , they want to give the legal authority to work to millions .
You do realize it is illegal for an employer to hire an illegal immigrant, yet Georgie Bush let it happen and didnt prosecute the business owners.?

700... why does Josh (737832), a banker in BOS care about what kind of agreement anyone gets? Is he invested in US stock? AA stock? UA stock?

What is his deal? What is he dong in an Airline Forum to begin with?

You do realize it is illegal for an employer to hire an illegal immigrant, yet Georgie Bush let it happen and didnt prosecute the business owners.?

and what , you think i'm OK with that ? Anyone who hires illegal immigrants should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law ... but you can't deny that democrats have not been enthusiastic to support E-verify which would cleanse our work force of unauthorized workers and prevent future ineligibles from being hired .

Like democrats not all republicans feel the same on illegal immigrants ,Some actually believe in carrying out our laws , and others not only want to look the other way but encourage it. Still there are enough of us left to hold the line ...

If we're going to point out presidents , the CURRENT president has an AUNT in the country illegally who as far as I know is still here , even with an order of deportation against her from YEARS ago ... Did you know she was taking up a public housing unit in Mass for like a DECADE , depriving an AMERICAN CITIZEN of housing !

and then of course there's the presidents DUI uncle who ALSO has an order of deportation against him who as far as I heard is STILL here , and this is even after he yet again driving drunk rolled through a 4 way stop and smashed into a police car with the officer in side .

Our country , our people are being bled dry ....... I shouldn't have to reiterate to ANY OF YOU how much damage has been done to the blue collar workers of this country .....

Everyone has to draw the line somewhere , my line in the sand is making legal this huge army of third world labor here to undercut us in our very homes ...While I care about union issues , I cannot help but feel that if the larger fight to prevent the importation of cheap labor INTO our country is lost , then so to will most of the blue collar class .

I shouldn't have to become a republican to do what I feel is necessary to save the blue collar class , but look at this strange world we live in , Democrats supporting the undercutting of American workers ... Amazing !

You are seriously delusional, the democrats are always pro-labor

You are truly ignorant. Jimmy Carter extinguished collective bargaining rights for federal goverment employees in 1978, about the only good thing Carter did.

Democrats have done plenty to set back organized labor, Taylor Law in New Tork State, collective bargaining reforms, pension reforms, charter schools. Better educate yourself before making claims like that.
