time for solidarity NOW that the airline knows that its either we vote for union or no union id expect the airline mgmt to start soon a campaign for fsa to vote no union and i would not be shocked if they compare us to DL
management will not be running a vote no campaign. They are in agreement. regards

People just need to be reminded of those times they had an issue with some nitwit unit lead or some pinhead manager in order to point out the benefits for having the union covering their back. Been in this business long enough to know it won't take long before there is a confrontation about some unreasonable demand and but not for the union, people would be fired on the most suspect of causes.

sure hope your right tim but i have a funny feeling that mgmt is hoping we will go no union
they have a cooperative seniority agreement with the unions and have a mou that forces the association to call single carrier by 6 months after the effective date.
Wasnt previously thinking about that but just because a union calls for single carrier doesnt mean they have to go to joint talks unless the association screws our members. Just gotta make sure everyone is educated if the association or iam sell a mini contract as a take it or leave it.
regards,

I for the life of me in these times that I would vote 'no union". Not now, not at this time, with this management. Problem is that we have a weak union and apathetic employees who are now paying the price for inaction.

You spend all of your time and energy informing your brothers and sisters about what's about to go down and the importance of voting. They will tell you that they did, but they didn't. Only when job loss occurs, then people get concerned. Then it's too late. But I'm thankful that we voted the TA down and will do so again, even though there will be a few less members.

Sad......so sad.

Setting aside the percentage of votes needed (or more specifically what votes don't count), did other votign rules change? It has been my understanding that the vote was for or against representation. If there was enough votes for representation, then the union that got the most votes was the rep. By that logic, it's no union, the Association, or whateve writein wins. Is that no longer the case?

Wrong again Tim. The MOU that calls for an application for a determination of single carrier status within six months of the close of the merger was signed between AA, US and the TWU. The TWU will not be the certified bargaining agent six months after the merger closes, it will be the TWU/IAM Association and it has not agreed to any timeline for single carrier status. If your going to educate people, then get your facts straight.

whichever union is certified has to honor all mou, loa and contracts. Changing unions doesnt get the mou abolished. If it did then are you suggesting that usairways has no obligation to fulfill the mou with a 4.3% wage increase? Lmao

I’ve been reading all the responses as to how no one can believe anybody would be stupid enough to vote for NO UNION, and how the company will campaign to have us vote for NO UNION.

Every member that reads this response should to be aware of something... the table is being turned on you behind your back! Republican Senator Rand Paul is quietly pressing to pass legislation that would make all your concerns moot! The National Right to Work Act (NRTA) is being financed by Corporate Lobbyist loyal to the Republican Party that would love to outsource you, or pay you minimum wage! The NRTA would severely decimate the RLA, and slowly bankrupt Airline Unions!

Educate yourselves, the mid-term elections in 2014, and the Presidential election in 2016 may very well end the era of Airline Unionism for good. It just depends on who holds the majority in Congress, as well as Commander and Chief over the next decade or so.

This may well be the last time you vote on anything!

Had you voted it in... the job loss would have been greater.

Roa,
The National Right To Work Act is proposed legislation that represents a huge threat to unionism within the airline industry. It is indeed the latest "wolf at the door" for any union represented employee in the airline industry. You are absolutely right with your advice to members to pay close attention to where candidates stand on this issue in future elections. Union represented jobs could be short lived in the airline industry; depending on the results of mid term elections in 2014 and the elections in 2016. If enough anti union / pro business candidates are elected to tip the scales... union represented jobs in the airline industry will be gutted with the passing of The National Right To Work Act (NRTA). Members need to be very vigilant. The Wolf is at the door!

Well, on the AA side of the world we had 4,000 idiots who could not be bothered to cast a vote on the LBO from the company.I'm sure a lot of that was guys who were getting their stations pulled out from under them as well as a lot of "Furlough Fodder" part timers, but still a remarkably apathetic showing considering what was at stake.

Always been that way here though.

Not sure what is up with the AA agents the passenger service agents recently voted NO for union representation
