I believe, unlike past representation elections, the outcome will now be based on 50% + 1 of the ballots cast. This means the ballot not cast is not tabulated as a vote against representation. The apathetic voter, who does not cast a ballot, will not be factored into the final equation. The outcome will be decided by the ballots cast. If anyone on the forum has more insight... please correct me if I'm wrong. IMO.. anyone in Fleet Service, both on the UA and AA side, that would vote for no representation at this time, is incomprehensible.

You are right Cargo and CB. i completely forgot about the rules change

True. But it will not have the adverse effect and impact it has had in the past. Apathy and non participants continue to frustrate me.

Agreed.

Apathy-especially when it comes to something that could very well dictate your career path- drives me bat sh*t crazy.

That said, please do not underestimate the adverse impact a non vote can have. The goal needs to be to get every.last.member involved and engaged.

It makes no sense, no A-cards were signed, something doesnt seem right.
Exactly thats why I reached out to you in the other forum but get nothing but smart ass replies about reading and education lesson learned I will just put u back on the ignore list

cb whats really interesting is that its going to be either a vote for the union twu/iam assoc or no union at all... how did that come about... i would think that could not be like that

I don't have all the info on that. I know it seems kinda crazy. From what I understand its the NMB that made this decision. Neither of the unions. The info comes from high up. People that were actually there when the coalition was agreed to. I'm just relaying the info that I was told from them, they assured me that was correct.

as always cb greatly appreciated information wonder if there is a way to find out if that is truly legal bec 700 has long maintained that A-cards would be sgned etc but dont know if the rules changed

Many of these coalition circumstances are probably governed by some recent changes to Federal Laws regarding representational elections. Specifically, the FAA re-authorization act changed the ground rules in these elections.

I agree with Cargo on one observation—Apathy, hopefully will not be a mitigating factor as these members are considered to be non-participants, and are not counted into the equation as “no” votes.

As I have said before, we are in the first merger to be governed by these new laws. I would imagine that the NMB had to write the rules on this as it progresses, and these rulings will develop case history for future circumstances that are similar in nature.

CB......its time for a BBQ. When is Mr. Roa gonna call it a career. I hear he is quite the cook. I know he is pondering that and I would like to engage in some of that southern hospitality along with his Q. I am looking forward to meeting him in the near future and sit down and enjoy all yours company. Thanks for the clarification and everyone have a safe holiday weekend. Maybe next week I will hunt him down in catering and introduce myself to him on my way through your fine Queen City
When the time comes... I'll send you a PM, and invite!

I received confirmation of the vote today. We will be voting for the Union ( Alliance ) or No union. This will be the only choice. Also voting for No union will result in decertification of both unions IAM and TWU. The vote will be handled by the NMB.

So who was the #### idiot that decided this association was worth the risk of losing certification? What's the difference between voting for TWU or IAM vs voting for the Association? Am I missing something?

Well, on the AA side of the world we had 4,000 idiots who could not be bothered to cast a vote on the LBO from the company.I'm sure a lot of that was guys who were getting their stations pulled out from under them as well as a lot of "Furlough Fodder" part timers, but still a remarkably apathetic showing considering what was at stake.

Always been that way here though.

time for solidarity NOW that the airline knows that its either we vote for union or no union id expect the airline mgmt to start soon a campaign for fsa to vote no union and i would not be shocked if they compare us to DL

Under the old NMB voting rules, if a person did not even bother to vote they were considered a no vote. When, the change was made to only count those people who actually vote, no union is always a choice in a NMB certification vote. If TWU and the IAM would have fought for the representation of all the members, the ballot would have had TWU, IAM or no Union.

NMB certification elections are won or lost in the HUBS or FOCUS Stations. The NMB rules require 50% + 1 of those Workers voting YES to keep their UNION . Those that Vote NO count for de-certification. Those who don't give a SHI# (IDIOTS) don't count. AGC's and TWU will be visiting and spending most of their time and $money$ at HUBS. SOLIDARITY. VOTE YES. IAMATWU.
