I received confirmation of the vote today. We will be voting for the Union ( Alliance ) or No union. This will be the only choice. Also voting for No union will result in decertification of both unions IAM and TWU. The vote will be handled by the NMB.
Thanks still shaking my head though since the alliance isn't representing us how is it we are voting on represention.
OTOH this should keep 700 away for a few days he tends to pipe down when proven wrong
Thanks for the clarification

A question CB. Is that vote pertaing to all work groups or is the vote in separate work groups?.. in otherwards is the mechanic work group votes lumped together and seperate from fleet?
The votes will be seperate. It would be possible for the alliance to go through with one of the groups but not both. Although surely people won't be that crazy and vote no union at a time like this.

cb do you have any idea as to when that would take place.... lets say the govt gives the green light for us/aa aug 31 what kind of time frame would we be looking at and how long would the process take and how would it be done.... internet or phone
The NMB will conduct the election, it is my understanding that it will be done by phone. Everyone will be mailed a PIN number to use to call in and place your vote. These PIN numbers will be mailed to the current address on file at work. So everyone make sure your address is up to date in MY HR at work. It will take place soon after the merger is completed. NMB will decide the date.

Its the people who don't vote that always screws us. The best thing possible is to get a contract to vote on that has teeth so people become more involved. That is the problem with the P/T ratio as it stands. P/T tend to not vote as they have a stake outside the company that tends to carry more weight to them. Oh, people say they voted but my believe is that the P/T tend not to.

Will be interesting to see where a non-vote ends up in this situation.........

CB......its time for a BBQ. When is Mr. Roa gonna call it a career. I hear he is quite the cook. I know he is pondering that and I would like to engage in some of that southern hospitality along with his Q. I am looking forward to meeting him in the near future and sit down and enjoy all yours company. Thanks for the clarification and everyone have a safe holiday weekend. Maybe next week I will hunt him down in catering and introduce myself to him on my way through your fine Queen City

thanks cb its definitely high flying time that we not only get a contract but got to have all the solidarity possible i can see the mgmt saying we be better off without union but as one poster said been there done that and its greener on the union side than the non union side.

cb if i may suggest just so people all across the us system can know may be it a good idea to have union agcs that are on the negogiation team travel the system visit stations and get imputs and all in person on the phone thru email anyway possible given that it will be a choice btwn the union or no union i think may be we need agcs and other higher iam officials travel the system engage with employees give and receive info opinions etc to get a feel and ideas as to how and where to go and all

Association or no union at all is a bad scene. Look for a full court press by the company touting the virtues of going non union. Your NC has it's work cut out for them.

CB, I can't say I envy you...

. Oh, people say they voted but my believe is that the P/T tend not to.

That was usually my experience as well. The highest participation was always the "tweens" (say, 10-25 yrs. in), since they usually had the most at stake...

Everyone keep in mind, the rules have changed as far as elections go. The people that now are NO votes don't count against you like they used to. It is now just 50% of who votes that wins, regardless of the number that votes.

The NC has discussed visiting stations around the system. Maybe breaking up in teams of 2 or 3 and going around at least to the bigger stations. Not sure we could make it around to all of them. I'm sure this will be discussed more when we meet next due to this coalition being announced.

Let me know when you come through, we will run over and talk to Roa if he is in.

I believe, unlike past representation elections, the outcome will now be based on 50% + 1 of the ballots cast. This means the ballot not cast is not tabulated as a vote against representation. The apathetic voter, who does not cast a ballot, will not be factored into the final equation. The outcome will be decided by the ballots cast. If anyone on the forum has more insight... please correct me if I'm wrong. IMO.. anyone in Fleet Service, both on the UA and AA side, that would vote for no representation at this time, is incomprehensible.

thanks cb its going to be interesting.. do you have a time frame of when you and the team will meet regarding going to stations..
i have heard but i have not confirmed it yet but ive heard that frank may be coming to my station within the next 2 weeks if soo that would be a great start but i do believe its all the more important reasons that all fsa get informed some how some way anyway i dont think the stakes could ever be sooo high esp at a critcal time..

CB,
Visiting stations is a great idea. Unfortunately, the NC is already spending a lot of time away from home with negotiations. Although, on the surface, it seems like a great idea, I can keep my members informed as long as the NC continues to provide pertinent updates. Committees are in place both in the hubs and outline stations. I suggest the NC continues to communicate through the forum and the committees to update the members. The NC does enough road time with negotiations. Time to delegate communication through the forum and updates to the contacts in each station. I want the NC to focus on negotiations without the added stress, hardship and distraction that visiting each station would entail on the NC members.

That's correct, but a large number of people not participating can still affect the outcome.
True. But it will not have the adverse effect and impact it has had in the past. Apathy and non participants continue to frustrate me.
