Robbed , I'm not angry the company gave the TWU the four percent , I would have done the same , it was VITAL that they be brought on board the merger , which I whole heartedly agree with and think will be good for the membership in the long run.

If the talks fail I think that is an outcome that we are preparing to deal with here in PHX ... We took point on the last go round we can do so again if need be...

But honestly I'm going to place my faith in the committee and sit back until they tell us otherwise ...

Like I said I'm happy with the merger , I want to avoid strife if possible .

Can't say I disagree with ya. But I can't answer for the last contract, I wasn't there. I always thought there should have been something like a 5% raise at the end, something that would make the company pay a little for not reaching an agreement. Now all we can do is negotiate, if the company stalls or doesn't negotiate, then we go to the next step, which would be to ask to be released.

charlie,
correct me if I am wrong but doesn't MTC get a raise every few months that they havent reached an agreement thought I heard one of them say they get a 2% every 3 months they are over the amended date. maybe you can clarify but my point is if that is so why doesn't have the same language or similar heck we are the same union with the same international

charlie ,
glad to hear that. Is it a fair assessment to say that the NG team is opposed to leaving sect 6 and that if it happens (without much needed improvements) then we are to assume that RD trumped the team and sided with management..
Not knocking you guys just turning the pages back a few pages in RD book and referring to what he did to his own blood at UA after personally PROMISING his blood that he wouldnt do such a thing. I would suggest don't hang your hat on " the worlds largest carrier" status at present UA is the worlds largest carrier and the T/A he brought back is obviously the worst in the Airline Industry. I also believe that District 141 IAM is currently the LARGEST union on UA's property and couldn't use any of that leverage to bring back a livable contract. I disagree with TIm on the joining the 2 Districts together because as we have just seen at UA it really doesn't scare the company and all that I believe goes back to respect the US management team has NO zero respect for the union heck just look back at what they have done to us in the 5 yrs RD has been in office.

I can't go into our rules we set before our negotiations, but lets just say, and I think I can speak for the team on this, that we aren't worried about RD trumping us. I don't think he trumped the UA team. I think that was a team decision, which their issue was much different than ours. We support Rich in negotiations, and he supports us. Sure we have disagreements among the team from time to time, that's normal. But we 100% have each others backs. I don't think you'll find one member on the team that doesn't agree that we get to be heard as much as we want. I can especially vouch for that, because I'm probably one of them that speaks up too much. Lol. But I still get to make my arguments for as long as I want

Oh charlie please make sure the team knows that if theres a new contract and even a quarter more of MY money goes to the IAM pension I am going to be SERIOUSLY displeased .

I have zero desire to fund that dying pension with even one percentage point more of my compensation from this company only to get shanked by the pension a few years down the l

Informer?....i dont mean to be rude but can i assume ur handle is referencing the short comings of 141? Kind of like TWU informer is with the TWU?. It seems that all of the writings are of " couldn't / wouldn't / can't / won't " / should have" ! This doesnt produce any positives in my opinion and thats what we need " Positives" We need fellow employees to understand their contract language and scope so we don't visit the same TA path again. Until we see the first writings on paper i say " can / will / hope " and such. Maybe we should stick to that until we get something to see on paper. The strongest form of solidarity right now is education.

I'm not sure on that one. I know they did have a 3% raise built in for this July if they don't have an agreement, but not sure on the other. I can find out though. As for why we don't have one scheduled for this July, like I have said, I can't answer for the last negotiations team. So out of respect for them, I won't guess.

I here ya about the pension. Unfortunately either way we go on this issue we are going to piss people off. Some say get as much back as you can, others state the same as you. Hopefully when we integrate contracts ( I don't think it will happen before then ) but when we integrate, we can give people some type of option between a pension and a match 401k. Just my opinion.

mike,
I try and present facts sorry if they aren't positive but I'm not the one causing such apathy amongst our group. I can appreciate the looks wait and see whats on paper but remember this groups history in the last "transition or intergrated agreement" should never have happened but the previous leadership did it anyway and after it was printed and pitted the west against the east and the small against the big it was a little to late. All I am saying is once it comes out and even if it really sucks and the members intially voted it down . they will dress it up and scare everyone with "this is it take it or else" and it will probably pass and once again our sect 6 ( which by the way the company HATES to negotiate in) will be flushed down the toilet yet again. I for one won't be fooled again by the smoke and mirrors no matter who the President is. Fool me once shame on you Fool me twice shame on me. I hope I'm wrong and am hoping on Charlie and company to pull off a miracle but I am also a realists and with what the District has down on US property in the last 5 yrs and what they are trying to do on UA property right now its not looking very promising.

not familiar with twu informer will have to pull up his/her profile and check it out. can you remember when the last time US fleet ratified a sect 6 negotiated contract .. was it the 98 contract or have we ratified one since then . thought the other 2 were BK and 1 transition ?

To be honest, im more concerned with the "IAM Informer " thing. But, its no big deal cuz we are on the outside looking in right now. And the shades are pulled. But i have confidence.

Common Man?....thats a leading question and i wont go there.......lets educate for the future and leave it at that

I ask a question and now its leading sorry mike thought you might have remembered , I will just wait for 700 to chime in. the point I am trying to make is that it's been a very long time since we signed a fully negotiated contract be it 98 or 03 don't get all paranoid as I have said in past post I appreciate your older post you usually produce useful , factual info. but thats ok In the future I will just ask a ? to the board in general.

Charlie just to clarify , while I don't LOVE the pension , I am not against funding it at today's current levels , I simply don't want to see an increase negotiated in the next contract that raises the company's contribution levels to the pension ...the more money the company pays into the pension the less they will put into my paycheck.
