What's new

any rampers want to talk IAM vs TWU?

Wow, do you work at US?

50% of the overhaul is done inhouse, there is a big hangar in CLT that and several in PIT.

Dont let the facts get in your way.
700, the IAM does not have a bankrupt contract at US AIRWAYS. The last bankruptcy at US AIRWAYS was 2005, i.e., 7 years ago. Since then, the IAM has signed a contract. How many mechanics does US AIRWAYS and AMR Have? I know there are 5,900 fleet service as of January, 2012 at US AIRWAYS, dunno how many at AMR.

At any rate, can we change this topic back to fleet service? What is the fleet service retirement now at AMR? I know the IAM US AIRWAYS fleet service have the IAM pension plan which is a undefined benefit plan.

regards,

The only thing that was signed was a transition agreement to bring the west under the east CBA. There hasnt been section 6 negotiations till now.

And all the work that OSMs do at AA is done by who at US? DL? CO? WN? FDX? UPS? Nobody, because that work is outsourced. Are you suggesting that we agree that all OSM jobs should be eliminated and their work outsourced at AA?
No I am suggesting that all OSM's go away and no work outsourced. I am suggesting that the TWU instituted and continues to promote concessions.

So because AA keeps OSM's the rest of the AMT workforce should eat a sh*t sandwich? Again the experienced licensed A@P is subsidizing the non-licensed OSM. Even that would be fine if the TWu only had AMT's and related and no one else. But nooooo. That will never happen under an industrial union.

what do you rampers at AMR think of the possibility of the IAM bosses getting 4,000 cards from AMR TWU members

Oh after the great "TWU Tap Out" of 2012 I'm sure you could find 4,000 cards.Maybe the IAM could get the 4,000 idiots that didn't vote to sign cards.

I've talked to quite a number of members here in ORD that I've stayed in touch with and go over to T3 often. I don't get the picture that there is any love for the TWU in ORD at least.
After being responsible for organizing 20,000 members for the IAM as Director of Organizing [before I got fired for throwing my name in the hat for President], I have mixed feelings. If there is an election, I would say that the IAM should be the early favorite and I base that solely on how I was able to abolish the old nasty IAM organizing department and bring in the new techniques. Those techniques run by themselves and the IAM has kicked butt on two more organizing victories since my departure. I look at TWU organizing and, IMO, it is in sore need of a tuneup and presently will not be able to match the IAM.

OTOH, if you try to figure out which union to go with because of how they represent workers like us, then both unions need alot of work.

700,
You don't make any sense. I fought and secured the nominations of each US AIRWAYS hub against the current IAM leadership and current established infrastructure. And won the first and largest US AIRWAYS hub, PHL, in the vote a couple weeks ago. However, I could not sustain the strong lack of support at United airlines and barely lost the second US AIRWAYS hub before things became academic.

At any rate, the choice isn't between me and the current IAM 141 President, the choice in the merger will be between the TWU and IAM. Along with that choice will be inquiries about seniority, pension issues, how much are dues, etc.? All reasonable questions indeed.

regards,

So, Tim? Why have you NOW only come to the AA Tarmack and not before the elections were over? I believe you won PHL by 2 votes. Correct?.....what makes that such a victory?....
There is a lot more to this story. Try not to proclaim to much ....... "The Floor is Yours " ( as they say )

Tim,

You narcissist, you had nothing to do with how the IAM organizes unless they are paying people under the table with gifts to get cards signed. Get real.

Huh? Why the personal hate? I'd rather post what the leaders of the IAM said about me, and my accomplishments with the IAM, so kindly read the following: Tim's Professional Bio.

At any rate, this isn't about Tim so quit fancying yourself with me. This thread is about the TWU/IAM and serious discussion about each. If you have something to say about how you, as an officer of the IAM, have prospered the US AIRWAYS fleet service then this is the place to mention it. But please leave all personal attacks aside.

Nothing personal about attacks, trying to let AMR members know the real Tim, (not the hyped up by you) megolomaniac, narcissistic and unrealistic person that you are. You are a legend in your own mind. Get real. Tell them how people that used to support you have turned against you and that the 25 votes you got out of 30,000 were from people that hadn't met you yet.

The merger forces all of us to come here and inquire.

I say we have the courtesy to let AA work things out with this BK and not cloud their minds with distractions. If they want info ok, but their plate if full at the momment and we should respect that until some conclusions are reached with their situation. IMO!

LOL. What are you so fearful of? Am I asking anyone to vote for me? This vote, if any, will be between the TWU and IAM.
You won your office and did a great job smearing me but have done nothing for the members at US AIRWAYS. Again, the onus is upon YOU if you want to convince me and others to consider the IAM over the TWU. Can I just admit that I'm an ####, crude, rude, sick person so we can get through your ongoing personal attacks instead of you focusing in on the thread at hand?

Again, i'm not running for office so you should focus your energies on advising the TWU members how well you have done representing US AIRWAYS workers and how you and the IAM have made a difference. If you have to offer up personal attacks then I think you lose credibility, especially as an IAM officer.

Sheesh!

I thought things were already worked out with fleet service AMR? And there is rumor of a TWU meting in PHL fairly soon.

At any rate, the organizing machines of the IAM will be in full motion as they have already said they are planning a massive card signing drive at AMR. IMO, a merger arrangement in the financial community may happen as early as September. That will trigger processes in which the IAM will be forced to get a big card signup in a window of time. This stuff never stops.

One of my personal gripes with the IAM is that they should focus instead on gaining a leading industry contract at US AIRWAYS instead of following the management friendly merger procedures it followed at UA/CO where nobody has even gotten a simple pay raise in 4 years of billions of profits. Options should be open on both sides of the aisle and it is imperative that fleet service try to gain as much information as possible about each property.
