We know precisely what the progressives want: they seek to confiscate all firearms from law-abiding citizens, leaving only the state (and criminals) with a monopoly on force. We know precisely what the conservatives want. The seek to allow anyone who wants a gun, criminal back ground or not, have access to any weapon of their choice. The fact that the US homicide rate is at the very least double that of any other nation ion the world (not including those who are involved in armed conflicts) is irrelevant. These are precisely there people the founders feared when they specified the right to bear arms be contingent on “a well regulated milita”.

That sounds like even more reasons for me to want to keep mine. Obama and his various agencies and even outright thugs like the BATF (Waco),etc have plenty of guns. After the inept slaughter of women and children through their joyous little antics at Waco; why not start by disarming THEM? There are well over 300 MILLION legally owned firearms out in the public's hands. Let's not even consider the ease with which criminals can acquire them as well. What's your plan for even disarming those last, as in; the frikkin' criminals, and why not at least to try to start there? Can't reasonably be done, can it? So then; what possible point's to be seen in anyone wishing to disarm the legitimate and law-abiding citizens of this supposedly "Free" country? Are you suggesting that this same, glorious government that trusted myself and countless others with it's aircraft and even the possible useage of nuclear weapons, should now make us "criminals" because they don't like the number of rounds any particular ammo clip we have holds? Should I enthusiastically endorse such complete nonsense and utter insanity from them? Bottom line = Why should I trust any government that doesn't trust me?

Just pointing out that NON criminial idiots are permitted to buy guns. You were awfully critical of the stance, position of the hands...position of the stock, etc that was exhibited by Obama in that picture. Just thought you'd like to see how much training we require from our perfectly legal gun owners here. I'll bet Obama doesn't stuff handguns in the sofa.

I've never proposed disarming anyone..I just wonder why in the hell any person NOT on active duty in the military needs their own personal assault rifle.

Well DOH! The NRA does not even like the idea of a universal back ground check so how the heck do you expect to keep guns out of the bad guys hands if the NRA will not even allow a back ground check. Then there is the fact that in TX any moron with a wad of cash can walk up to another moron with a gun and buy it with out so much as a hello.

We are not going to get the guns out of the criminals hands anytime soon. That ship has sailed a long time ago thanks to the gun nuts. The best we can do now is to make sure no more guns get into the criminals hands but it is obvious the gun nuts do not care about that either.

The idiots on the left keep talking about bans on crap that does not make a difference, not to mention that bans do not work. The idiots on the right do not want to agree to any type of regulations to ensure that only people who should have access to guns actually have access to guns.

Agreed. They can also purchase even statistically far more lethal devices = cars. What's perhaps most tragic is the demonstrated fact that they can also vote. If you want to ever start regulating individual's rights...well...I'd consider both IQ and Civics/Government knowledge tests before allowing full citizenship rights.

At least they have to pass a test to show they understand the basics of operating a car AND they have to get a license to drive one. More than we demand of gun owners who stuff loaded pistols into the to sofa.

Can't support your idea of government/civics tests for citizenship as too many of my right leaning friends would lose their citizenship. Judging from the past couple of months, the main purpose of the constitution was to allow gun ownership, and they are only aware of the "bill of right" to own a gun.

Actually they have loosened their censorship some. Still can't say the f word on network TV, but NYPD blue routinely showed bare butts, which was a no no at one time, and sonuvabitch is used a lot. Heck....if that licensing thing made that happen, maybe licensing guns would allow you to own MORE?

That is a possibility. They can also take your house, cars, bank accounts, credit cards, medical csreand anything else that is linked to you yet no one take about that. Probably because there is no history to support such a theory. Granted that just because something has not happened does not mean it wot but I think there are much easier ways for the government to screw with the people than to take their guns. Besides when it comes to that registration or lack there of will be the least of your worries.
