I had you pegged as more of a show tunes type.
There you go. A sense of humor. Actually I did enjoy Evita. You know "Don't cry for me Argentina"

Not too many experienced AMTs are unemployed, and if they are - it's by choice.
Sure. Especially all those NWA mechs way back. Many of them chose to scab. Now they work for Delta while the tough guys are working with the groups who want your jobs. Some irony in that one.

Exactly. How do us uneducated rabble keep getting the better of these educated, skilled professionals?

The assumption would be that we're? ---------- Nah can't be.

Did you survey all the former NWA AMTs?  The tough guys?  You mean the ones that have a spine?  The ones I know, moved on to UPS, SWA, Fed Ex, and some left the industry, and are doing very well.  The irony is, even the scabs are doing better than AA's AMTs - courtesy of the TWU.

i cant wait till this all gets settled and one way or another you are years away from a contract.....

then see who is a barrel of monkeys.

How did the 4-5,000 AMTs that lost their jobs all get taken in by SWA, FedEx, and UPS? They hired but the combined new hires of those companies amounts to a thousand tops? Where did the other NWA mechanics go that they made more than what they had at NWA?

You can add Boeing to the list. MANY exNWA mechs wound up here...

Not necessarily more, but a decent living and not living on their knees before Steenland.
Many went to the RR ind, charter carriers, carriers listed above, elev maint field, retrained into various other disciplines(ie HVAC, auto mechs, marine maint, O & G-not doing real good now) etc.
I dont' blame them at all for striking NWA.
And most, would do it all over again. In a heartbeat.

They probably ended up at the same places as the hundreds of guys who were laid off from AA who turned down recall. Sure AA has hired hundreds but we are still down 9000, many who quit on their own due to the lousy contracts you helped put in place. That shows that people are leaving faster on their own than the company can eliminate jobs. Recently had another 20 plus year guy resign, went to LIRR I believe. Bragging that you made this a less desirable job with a high turnover rate doesn't sell anyone on Unionism, we can do that without a Union.

Funny how with their number in the thousands we dont see anyone here from NWA saying that they should have given up what we did. In fact we see guys who changed professions and are making more than if they had stayed at NWA.

Oh wow. You just proved me so wrong about how much better we got it over you. That half sick day makes all the difference. I bought me a Ferrari off of that savings.
Seriously? C'mon?
Maybe if you had been in the negotiations you could have exchanged that for .20 cents an hour? Or whatever the heck it was worth to your group in value?
I dont think that anyone is saying Fleet has it better than Maint, the arguement is they have been better served in as much as how they have fared compared to their peers. If you want what mechanics have go to school for it, they are begging to fill seats, then get the experience. I was 25 when I got hired, had to have five years to be considered, you only need two.

The fact is that all the arguements that were used to drive us down to a very distant bottom of the industry applied to fleet, Pilots and Flight attendants as well. All had Scope language that meant that we had more employees in each classification working for AA than their competitors had, but only maint eneded up at the boittom of the industry. IMO this was due to maneuvers by the International to block release which would have likely resulted in a PEB where we would have been at least at industry standard like you guys were going in. Prior to BK all the other groups had good reason to not rush to release as a PEB would probably not benefit them, that was not the case for Maint. Even in BK this arguement was scarcly touched because of conflicting interests. The Pilots at Pinnicle were in a simialr position as we were when their company went intop BK, and their Union fought it and the court ruled with the pilots that since they were already at the bottom the company needed to reconsider its demands.
