AMFA......read on

Jeez more comments from a FORMER FSC. And a Jr. one at that. You are NOT a mechanic and you currently do not work for either AA or US. To the gallows with you. Off with your head.
I was not Jr. Fleet when I left and had not been for some time.

I worked side by side with the mechanics for 8 hours a day at a MAINTENANCE base you idiot. I have a lot better understanding of what is going on than you do.

My household receives income from AA. I am directly affected by the contracts, so piss off.

Hey guys keep your thread going. I know it's important to you and you should continue on to share the information of your union and how the push is progressing.

I'll back off a little on the comments ok?

Peace.

So my guess would be that you would prefer to exclude Title 2, parts washers and those guys that change out the seats then? Do you only want members that have all the A and P licenses that can be obtained?

The reality is that if you get this thing you guys want you can get a a raise as high as you want it but don't give me the BS that you wouldn't sell out your non skilled labor to get it.

The reality is that you will NEVER get the money you're looking for as long as you have all those other people shackled to y'all.

C'mon be honest with me. Do you REALLY want all these people in your group? I'm not talking about what the NMB says you have to have. I'm asking do you really want to have to represent the unwashed filth?

Really? I have no idea why you are so pissed off and hate everyone. Is it AMFA or just mechanics in general. We as AMT's would like to be like the pilots and F/A's in which they negotiate for their particular work group. Was not much of a rebuttal more of a personal attack. If you have that little faith in the motives of the people you work with your work day must seem to last forever. I never once mentioned pay that is something you did. If you are not a mechanic you do not have a license to protect or the fear the FAA could take it from you. Again if you love the TWU wear your TWU pin with pride while a group of the mechanics work toward change.

Who hates anybody? Why is it that anytime someone makes an opinion that goes against the grain it's automatically labeled as hate?

I don't feel like you attacked me. Did you?

Only when it rains.

Good comment.

I love being Unionized first and foremost. I hope that you get the change you need and are blessed from it. Whatever that change is you truly need?  Not want, need.
Now I am trying to give you guys a little bit of latitude and attempting to back off. But if you keep drawing me in I'm going to have to keep responding?

That's a choice you can make and have if you want?

You do realize the CWA represents phone workers, which are the majority of the CWA, and you do realize its the CWA and IBT that represent agents at PMUS?

And you do realize AMFA represents aircraft cleaners.

And you do know the DOL classifies an aircraft mechanic as Unskilled Labor?

Here is a link to the DOL website -

Please point out where is says Aircraft Mechanics are unskilled

WeAAsle you can't back off if you tried.  Go ahead and keep twisting the posts to try to make something out of nothing.  The truth is that we want the TWU gone because they don't represent us.  Our benefits are the worst in the entire airline industry.  They are worse than yours and you are in the same union.  That is the reason but you can spin it any way you want and I'm sure you'll continue to.  Just like a good TWU "Union man".  Keep ignoring the fact that the AMTs are treated unfairly in our own union.  You do not deserve better benefits than I do.  But by your posts it looks to me like you not only are ok with it, you condone it.  You might have a bright future in the TWU International.

Your benefits are worse than mine? You do understand that pay is also considered a benefit right? I'll trade my entire compensation package for yours if you'd really like?

And yes I do believe you should earn more than me and that you should earn even more than you do now.

I personally believe that it's coming.

I am not able to find that either but I have found several websites that make that same statement.

http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/2007-10-10/industry-targeting-students-ap-mechanic-recruits
Currently the U.S. Department of Labor classifies the A&P mechanic as unskilled labor. This is despite the fact that the A&P mechanic is required to be part mechanic, part engineer, part manager, part accountant and part lawyer. The U.S. is one of the few countries in the western world that does not recognize the A&P as a form of practicing engineer.”

For what it's worth I think mechanics are skilled labor but, I am not the DoL.

No it is not. That is why jobs that offer nothing but a check have "no benefits".

And I don't recall either the TWU or IAM for that matter ever working to get it changed. The last thing these industrial unions want is for the smaller classification they represent to get higher compensation because they are skilled.. We are in a BUS/RAIL union....that's all that needs to be said.
