His business was following orders, asshat. And he did it with distinction.NewHampshire Black Bears said:Your bad asss talk DOESN'T change the fact that KYLE was a 'cowboy' in a country he had NO BUSINESS in.

Kyle volunteered.
You probably got drafted, and whined the entire two years you were in.
Sure, question my lack of service if you want. I wanted to fly Hueys. My vision didn't even qualify me for infantry.

Serialized ammo, confiscation of guns, etc., all were supposed to happen under the Kenyan socialist, communist, or whatever the label of the day is.

Then it is Hillary's turn.delldude said:
Was tried, is legislation, so far hasn't made it to the floor.
"Obama admits he’s coming for our guns, telling Sarah Brady, ‘We are working on (gun control), but under the radar.’"
So he still has some 18 months to play games.

Glad you volunteered. I stand corrected.NewHampshire Black Bears said:I VOLUNTEERED, U S NAVY 9/65 (Just like 'cowboy' Kyle)

Well ...not-so-fast....' Dog.
I'm hearing that ( uncle) Herman-6969-Caine....... is going to be a Late entry with the rest of the GOP Douche Bags.
Now you and I Know that if THAT happens then 'all bets are off' !

Now, did you volunteer willingly, or to avoid jail?

Well Mr. eolesen,..........THIS time I really believe you asked a respectfull genuine question, that I'll be glad to answer.
I (under no pressure of any kind) Volunteered. It was either going to be the Airforce, or the Navy. (the AF at that time was a 6 year Active stint, compared to a 4 year active tour in the USN). My draft number was getting very close to the 'top", and I had signed a draft card once I turned 18 (like a lot of teenagers did) which obligated me to serve my country, which I did.
I chose the Navy (or the usaf) because of the high chance of not having to be on the ground in Vietnam.
But wait there's More.
A Soldier(Army or marine) fighting on the ground in (say) europe in WW2 was a BRAVE person, fighting a JUST war.
Some poor Bas-Tard fighting on the ground in Vietnam was a 'brave' person fighting a very UNJUST WAR.
Make NO MISTAKE. Had I been ordered to go to Vietnam, I's STILL be a Canadian Citizen today, able to look in the mirror every day, while sleeping like a baby every night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny isn't it, ...... how WW2 and Afghanistan have a lot of similarities,...While conversly, Vietnam and I R A Q are shall we say,... 'joined at the hip' ! !
Just a side note...A friend of mine was in the NAVY during the Vietnam War, because he was there. He taught me about SHELLBACKS and Polywags(hope I remember correctly, but it's the "initiation" or "hazing" when a sailor crosses the Equator for the first time). He taught me that if a plane crashes into the deck of a Carrier it is pushed into the ocean because jet fuel can burn forever...or for a very long time! He also told mew that when you dock in the jungle, Green Berets come on board with buckets of gernades and position themselves at various points on the ship. They then throw gernades from the sides of the ship in no particular order. Why? To stop the VC from putting mines and explosives underneath the carrier or ships.NewHampshire Black Bears said:
Yes...Yes...Eric, anything you say !

The Navy and Air Force are the "safe" branches unless you are a pilot for either. Then there are the elite of the various branches, Those that conduct covert operations and are given orders to crush, kill and destroy by whatever means. This is another friend who was a delta force elite given the NAVY CROSS for what he did. He is a true hero that followed orders even if they involved killing innocent people.NewHampshire Black Bears said:
