American Airlines issued WARN letters to the TWU International

TWU Informer To the extent that WARN laws apply, this letter serves as notice that TWU represented employees may be affected by a job
reduction as outlined below.

  1. Approximately 208 Title II on or around November 16, 2012
  2. Approximately 1,414 Title II on or around December 16, 2012
  3. Approximately 2,519 Title III on or around November 16, 2012
  4. Approximately 958 Title III on or around December 16, 2012
  5. Approximately 17 Title IV on or around November 16, 2012
  6. Approximately 58 Title IV on or around December 16, 2012
  7. Approximately 5,445 Title I on or around December 16, 2012
  8. Approximately 540 Title V on or around December 16, 2012
Why don't you AMFA clowns knock off the BS. You may not be affected because of your seniority or location, but those that are have enough to deal with without your smart ass remarks.

Companies give WARN notices to any and all employees who may be impacted by a plant shutdown or a furlough. The figures in the WARN notice do not match up with actual furlough or displacement numbers because companies are liable for back pay if they underestimate the number of potentially impacted employees, so they usually overstate the potential impact to limit exposure. The actual furlough numbers were described in power-points sent out last week for mechanic and related, and were less than described during ratification. They are likely to be adjusted further downward for Tulsa

Exactly! And the TUL numbers are under review as Hewitt stated, the numbers are higher than the 4/26 sheet and will most likely go down. The company sent a higher than necessary number to ensure they would not be in violation of the WARN Act. The number of people sent letters were those that could be impacted by the RIFs and subsequent bumps. After SiS and EO's are awarded the number affected will drop.

It seems the no voters are trying to stir up trouble where none exists. Let the process play out and work off facts, not conjecture.

Sounds like a TWU International STOOGE officer posting damage control.
At this point we have all been had. We are tired and burned out. The TWU screwed us for the last time. Go find a hole to crawl in. Losing jobs is a serious issue. Very stressful to most of us. How dare you sit here and make a statement that the numbers will not be that high. Who are you to joke around by lifting someones hopes only to be proven wrong again like this worthless union. The company will do whatever it wants because the union let them. Now we are at their mercy. The numbers the company and the union posted are what we have to accept. We have to be ready to move on if we get bumped out of our station or RIF'ed. That is reality. You probably wont be affected. It's obvious by your statement.

I don't think it will go that deep after everything is considered. I'm thinking less than 300 Title 1 members and their families effected. If you are staffed in Tulsa I hope you make the cut...
That's called denial. By saying 300 effected does that not count the hundreds of AMTs bumped permanently to OSM? Or are you just thinking of how many dues payers your losing to the street?

So think only 300 will be effected can you please elaborate cause I'm seeing things differently please explain. Thanks

Totally agree but HSS just said he believes only 300 families will be affected so maybe you can explain your view on all the numbers

I want some of what you're smokin. I believe that the pain in Tulsa among Title 1 will go much deeper than just 300.

This is only my prediction based from year to date numbers and the not yet closed window for the Early Out and SIS. I think in the end the numbers will change dramatically...

Yes losing jobs is a serious issue. If we had voted the CBA down it would have been greater job loss. TWU screwed you? Maybe if you had listened back in May 2010 you would have had an extra $20K plus in your pocket but you were too smart weren't to fall for that? Can't fool you.

Agreed that more than 300 will be affected. Remember there will be a huge reduction at AFW which means many of them will bump around the system. Not only will TUL lose approx 700 Title I, there will be displacements in other places including TUL. That is the reason the number of Title I's getting letters is so high.

Tulsa may very well lose 700 Title I, but I still say out of that 700 number, 300 or less may be faced with in-voluntary reduction after this plays out. This is my prediction and I hope to come back later and say "I told you so" to the folks who post here...
