I will never defend the TWU, but WARN letters are, and must be a worse case scenario for an employer. If they made the number smaller than the actual layoff, they would pay in suits brought by the states and Feds.
I hope for your sake that AA took a moon shot with those numbers and they end up being much smaller.
They are definitely coming out of this a lean company. I doubt if they will survive on their own after layoffs like this. (My opinion only)
To the extent that WARN laws apply, this letter serves as notice that TWU represented employees may be affected by a job reduction as outlined below.
- Approximately 208 Title II on or around November 16, 2012
- Approximately 1,414 Title II on or around December 16, 2012
- Approximately 2,519 Title III on or around November 16, 2012
- Approximately 958 Title III on or around December 16, 2012
- Approximately 17 Title IV on or around November 16, 2012
- Approximately 58 Title IV on or around December 16, 2012
- Approximately 5,445 Title I on or around December 16, 2012
- Approximately 540 Title V on or around December 16, 2012
Where are all those YES VOTING save the jobs members at this evening?
And know this..... Only Round One here folks.
Ream said there would be more due to work rule changes and new aircraft arrival.
I did not say to ignore any facts. If you didn't notice, I was throwing a little optimism your way.
I know how you feel. I walked away from my career of 20 years when NWA forced my hand.
It is my hope that most of you have seen this coming. The warning signs have been there for years. The time to prepare for this was 2003 by maybe taking some classes and looking elsewhere.
If it makes you feel better by throwing stones my way, then so be it.

Exactly! And the TUL numbers are under review as Hewitt stated, the numbers are higher than the 4/26 sheet and will most likely go down. The company sent a higher than necessary number to ensure they would not be in violation of the WARN Act. The number of people sent letters were those that could be impacted by the RIFs and subsequent bumps. After SiS and EO's are awarded the number affected will drop. You guys aren't that smart are you? WARN letters have always been sent to a much larger amount of people that are actually RIF'd. Those numbers include all the potential bumping and rolling. SMHS

It seems the no voters are trying to stir up trouble where none exists. Let the process play out and work off facts, not conjecture.

How come you don't count a headcount reduction what it really is? Regardless of SIS or EO, or RIF, a headcount redcution equals JOB LOSS period.
Yes voters think a volunteer head count reduction is not counted as a lost job. Yet when you calculate an AMFA job loss, you even count those that went to another union. WTF
Dude tul is losing apx 1100 AMT's this round and an untold number next year that is fact that one can find on 514's website how's that for facts
