Airline, Attendants Ready For Concession Talks

That is right it is my choice and my fellow union brothers and sisters choice, so why don't you butt out and worry about alpa and your contract and not mine?

Savvy:

It’s not the bottom, it’s economics and reasoned versus emotional thinking. Therefore, go ahead and do not strike a new deal because those work groups will get hurt worse or lose their job. It’s up to you and you have a choice. By the way, presuming the company wins the A320 outsourcing issue the IAM will lose a ton of leverage and could become irrelevant to the process.

Good night.

The IAM will win the arbitration, care to make a wager on that?

And if the IAM loses, better step out of the cockpit, because Johnny O will have some pilots to take your place.

So a judge rules on the unions behalf and then what? U is out of business. Explain that to the children of the now unemployed airline workers who won't be able to go to dance class, soccer touraments, or the college they had hoped for. I'm sure the children will understand your point of winning at all cost. I live around a lot of U employees and I believe when push comes to shove, all this grand standing will deminish. Even with a paycut, they know damn well, they are still much better off with the paycut. Cost of Blue Cross and Blue Shield per month for a family of 4 - $2,400. That's your 80/20 plan. No dental, no frills. Didn't Continental go twice into BK? Their employees stock zeroed - twice! And aren't they being asked to give again? So Seigel screwed up on the first paycuts and BK - so shut the company down? That's logical.
Ok plane Jane,

You want in the "frey"

First off, CO went into BK twice, and they changed the laws because of Lorenzo.

Second, if the employees concede to your "no other option" contract, they won't be able to PAY FOR DANCE CLASS (that's a hoot), SOCCER TORNAMENTS, KIDS TUITION, OR ANY TUITION FOR THAT MATTER, AND AVORDABLE MEDICAL!

You must be living in a neighborhood where pilots reside. I am sure you are not living next door to a reserve f/a.

Have a nice night...

Really, US Oh Captain, I could really give a flying F what the Hell America West makes. I did not hire on with them many years ago. My vote will be NO.NO.NO!!!!!

I've never run across an individual that seems to take enjoyment out of fellow employee hardships, or another company going under{UAL] as you. I really think you need help. This is not a slam. Get help. Savy

Ahh, nice to see you back with your personal attacks. I was almost missing them.

Look, it's not a question of whose fault it will be. My comment about Teddy's efforts being misguided is that they will not change the ultimate outcome.

I'm certainly not a cheerleader for greed or corruption. I defy you to find a single post on any board where I have said that I support greed or corruption. My stance has been, and remains, that wishing things were different doesn't change the outcome. You have to play the game according to what is, not what should be.
mweiss,

And just who may I ask makes the rules of the "what is, of the game?

Of course. And if you were in the shoes of the rest of this nation's employed, what you would choose to do under those conditions is quit. Not shut the employer down. Quit. But what I keep reading here is something sounding much like a spiteful desire to "quit" by shutting the company down.
I know a vocal few here are probably advocating "shut it down," "full pay to the last day," "the concession stand is closed," etc.

But what I sense is more a feeling of "Let it die; we've done all we can do."

Forgive the analogy if this hits close to home for some, but it is like dealing with a relative who has been through a car crash and is now in a persistent vegetative state. You have the pathetic USAirA320pilots and the USflibois saying take whatever measures are necessary to bring the person back to consciousness, no matter how invasive-- force feeding; electric shocks if there is cardiac arrest; keep her on life support for 100 years if necessary (and oh yes make the rest of the family pay for these procedures from their own pockets, even though every doctor says it is hopeless).

Then you have those (many from the mechanics side of the fence, as far as I can tell) saying get it over with; take out a gun and shoot her or put a pillow over her face and be done with it.

Finally, you have what I am seeing, more of a "disconnect the feeding tubes (the tubes providing yet more concessions in my clumsy analogy) and see what will happen-- I am prepared for any outcome; we have done all we can and can do no more; we are only prolonging the inevitable and creating a horrible quality of life in the meantime."

(Again my apologies if that analogy offends anyone who has actually had to deal with something so horrible. Obviously the real world with those sorts of choices is much worse than simply losing a job and I don't mean to demean such an experience or any disrespect. But it is all I could come up with off the top of my head.)

USA320Pilot comments: I believe your point is shared by the majority of the employees.
