Aircraft maint issues

Employment Outlook. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there will be only a two percent employment growth for aircraft mechanics and service technicians over the 2012-2022 decade (www.bls.gov). ... By 2022, this number is expected to grow to 124,700 employed.”

Actually it’s 5% while the average job prospects are 7%.

Where in my post did I even mention it?

If AA offers a high 401k match I will consider it, but as of now I am better off with the IAMNPF as I have been in it for nine years already. I've already had one pension terminated, I dont want to lose another.

Stop complaining about my pension, when your frozen pension is going to cost AA $2 billion as of now to make up the short falls, as myself and other LUS members wont benefit a penny from that.

Not sure if you directly mentioned the IAMNPF in your post but you have defended the contract and hasn't your Pension been to PBGC, once or twice?

Very true. I too am still getting flyers and calls from contract maint. companies (STS for one) and they are saying there is a shortage in the industry. I also remember a couple articles about 6 months ago detailing the industry shortage of Pilots and mechanics going forward. Pilots shortage is a little bigger than the mechanics shortage, but both articles detailed how there are no "new" entries into the schools for A&P lic. as well as no where near the entries into the aircraft fields from military aircraft mechanics with experience. MRO's are just a temp. job until airlines start calling. All the rest are as you said above.
Hey, Vortilon, we just had some interviews completed last week, and I am hearing more will be hired after the new year and should last thru-out the 2018 year. Somewhere between 10-15 at most per month. Please spread the word to any of the fellas that might be interested.
Well on the open position postings for AMTs at SWA saw 14 slots in FLL, about 16 in BWI and more in DEN.

Both, GE’s contract to do the heavy maintenance & overhaul will not be renewed, and it makes no sense keeping the QEC work in Charlotte. I would not be surprised to see the V2500 QEC work move from Tulsa to Phoenix.

Are you sure? Where does your info come from?? Will there be more outsourcing in the future???
