Airbus Ruling

Justamechanic says,

The company will petition that the LCC's with the exception of Southwest do not do their work in-house.

This is not true at all, you need to have your facts in order before you make a statement like that. I know that JB, and Air Tran both do their own maintenance. JB just opened a new hangar in MCO for maintenance.

And being employed at F9 we don't farm out OUR maintenance. The only outside maintenance that is done under contract is at out stations were we have no mechanics. We have mechanics in DEN, MCI, and PHX. Live TV is done under their purchace/service contract for now.

So don't say that SWA is the only LCC that does their own in house maintenance.

Fish,

FYI,

LUV doesn't do 'in-house' maintenence.

:p UT

UAL_Tech,

They do some C-CK work in both Dallas and Pheonix. I beleive that they are on a prgressive inspection program C1 thru C????? But they do maintenance in house, SORRY! Next time your in the BIG D or PHX stop by the hanagar and see exactly the work they do there. Most of it is pretty labor intensive.

Well, what could IAM do if they close PIT as a maintenance facility for mainline, yet retain it for MidAtlantic and PSA use...?

Just curious,

700UW?

The company can close and move whatever bases they like, just as long as IAM members are overhauling the planes.

And MDA and PSA Mechanics are both IAM.

Our contract says we do the work, the company can decide where.

PSA is closing PIT maintenance and moving it to PHL

[

Be honest, how many IAM members and their families will pack up an transfer to East Briarpatch, AL?

Myself, I would move to Alabama and then start looking for other employment opportunities.........

700... you mean your facts ? Since when does employees get put on top of the list for protection. Speaking of facts, all you do is state your opinions, as do I! Your facts have proven to be opinionistic "at best" I think once again, reality gets in your way!

Go ask your union reps about employees as creditors and there will be an announcement from the court about filing prepetition claims.

Go look up the previous banlruptcy and you will see all pre-petition claims were paid in full if they were grievances.

The company cannot use the bankruptcy process to circumvent the grievance procedure.

You don't read very well do you!!

jetBlue, AirTran, Spirit, USA3000 DO NOT DO THEIR HEAVY CHECKS in-house. If you are an employee of jetBlue you know full well that the S check is done in Canada.

If your an AirTran Employee you know full well that your Heavy 717 checks are done at TIMCO...

If you work for Southwest you know your Heavy Checks are done at Goodrich and Cascade..

C checks are not, repeat not heavy checks.. They are light checks..

America West farms out its heavy, United farms out its heavy..

jetBlue's hangar in MCO has two walls up.. So nothing is being done in that hangar. Its a mud pit right now..

So get the facts straight.. My point is if US Airways keeps it together their ulitmate plan is to unload their Heavy Checks. Q, S and 757/767 C. The company is willing to do the light C's in-house.. Thats it.. They can get down to the 900 mechanic level if thats what they do and the CLT hangar would be plenty big do accomplish that work along with the DCA, LAX and BOS facilities.. Keep in mind they also have the PHL hangar.. This would allow them to dump the PIT facilities which are some of the oldest in the system.

Keep the post on point.. Read before you comment..

And at F9, now much of your work is done in-house? Component, wheel and brake, engine?? How much? ZIP, thats how much.

WN is pulling all work from Cascade and bringing it in-house and they accomplish 1/4 D-Checks in-house now, that is a heavy check.

B6 is building a hangar in MCO and one in JFK, they are using an exsisting hangar in MCO do to LiveTV installations.

A small percentage of work maybe 12% is done outside the rest in in Dallas and Phoenix.

I know for sure, I was there and in fact going back next year. Was all thru the hangers as they did "major" overhaul and mods to their 37's, talked to the mechanics performing the work, so on this "fact" you got wrong.
