AA fires mechanics for sleeping on duty

That was GO! Airlines (Mesa) from Honolulu. They were flying the 214 miles from HNL to Hilo I believe and overshot Hilo by 15 miles at 21,000 feet. The tower was able to get through to them finally by yelling loudly into the mike and they finally responded.

It was believed that they fell asleep but I don't think it was ever proven, it would be hard to prove but it seems plausible. There is a small piece about it in the latest issue of Reader's Digest, as well as some quite telling information from pilots and others in the business. RD did a well rounded piece, though they could have delved deeper, they are after all, a digest.

You can get a bit of the Reader's Digest article at that link called The 411 of Flight Delays.

Have a great weekend everybody!

The NTSB confirmed the pilots were indeed sleeping.

Your group gets caught doing a no no and you can not stand it. AA needs to fire every slacker that they have on the payroll. By doing so, they may not have to lay off anyone come November.

Once again, an original thread strays off the subject and turns into another topic. Let's stay on the subject. Can anyone confirm if the B check was pulled out of LGA and sent to STL? I heard this happened, but am unable to confirm this.

Word is they are now forcing OT in order to get the B-Check done.

I have also heard the MD-80 B-check will go to St Louis and be replaced with a new 737 check.

Dont know how true it is. If you really want to know call the line up AUS number 84137

I am sure they would be happy to let you know what is going on there.

Correlation or coincidence on the B check?

LGA's getting pulled down on flights in a couple months, and work follows the metal. Moving the checks to STL seems to be more of a coincidence than sabre rattling. But what would I know.

Believe me, y'all don't want me as a moderator again. I used to try to be fair and balanced. Now I'm just a biased prick with nothing to lose for speaking my mind.

For once, I will have to agree with you.
