AA and APFA expidite talks

This is too bad. I was really pulling for at least one work group to find common ground with the company. Perhaps an agreement couldn't be made at this time in light of the announced cutbacks. Maybe after any buyouts that may occur, etc., AA will better know how much they have left to work with...just a thought.

Our Union will now implement well crafted strategies for full scale bargaining. The first step in the plan is to “Mobilize to Maximize.â€￾ It is imperative that we have an overwhelming turn out at the APFA Road Shows.

oh boy...be prepared for another onslaught of those really effective tools the APFA is known for to show we're a force to be reckoned with... more BAGTAGS & head-scracthing plastic encased cards to hang around your neck. 🙄

great, more useless stuff we've got to pay for with our dues.

I say the APFA should use the money wasted on these bagtags/neckwear, pool it up, and use it to pay the fine imposed after staging a massive one day walk-out. Only then will Management finally see APFA means business. Bagtags/neckwear do NOTHING.

nah, spend it all then declare BK when they fine them, hell it works for the airlines.

The longer all negotiations are drawn out, the better able is the company to whine to the bankruptcy judge about how unreasonable the hired help are with their demands.

The company' spin on the suspension of talks...

Negotiations Update Addendum 6/27

Hello. This is Mark Burdette, Vice President, Employee Relations. I would like to provide you with an update on our recent talks with APFA. Over the last three weeks, the American and APFA negotiating teams worked very hard, and openly discussed a number of items that could prove to be a win-win for everyone.

However, the teams agreed that additional time is necessary in order to reach an agreement that addresses flight attendant needs while at the same time positioning the company for long-term success. While the negotiations process is often complex, we look forward to continuing our dialogue with APFA.

For additional information about negotiations, please visit the APFA section of aanegotiations.com.. The Web site can also be accessed from the Flight Service site.

Thank you again for your time today.

(The bolded section may be translated into the English as "the selfish APFA not only refused to bend over without lube, they expected the company in this time of dire financial straits to PAY for the lube.")

That's a shame. I was hoping that at least one of AA's labor groups would have the long-term vision necessary to seal a deal.
Don't worry, we are hearing that by the end of July the twu will step up to the plate and sellout its membership yet once again. This should leave plenty of cash to take care of the APA and the APFA.

And, don't think we don't appreciate it. If you look at the past few years, the TWU is not the only union that has been rolling over for the company.

Too bad. Lots of people held out for some possible relief, while others were waiting to see if some early out might be crafted. Would be interesting to see how far apart they were. What AA was looking for VS what APFA was trying to achieve in this short 2 year extension.

Just another one of jimntx's childish remarks. B**ch, b**ch, b**ch! That's all you do. Just do us all a favor and quit! Go back to Texaco or did they get tired of your b**ching too?

I dunno, I think Jim is probably dead on with his interpretation.
The company has shown us that they are unwilling to bend unless forced to, time and time again. Jim just posted it in a very grqphic metaphor. 😛
