2015 Fleet Service Discussion

BTW Metal you talked about the International creating a "divide and conquer" among our workgroups? In 20 years I have never had an International rep, Local President or even a Shop Steward tell me that I should hate you guys or think of you as slime or something. I think the division your talking about may be self imposed?

I have no problem talking to you guys. I don't do it when you're working on an airplane though because I have no clue what the hell you're doing. But when you're walking past me I'll say hello and engage you in conversation. I have plenty of friends in Maintenance. (some know it's me here too) Aside from that anyone can walk into my gate on D24 MIA afternoons and say hello. That's where I am 5 days a week.

Did I say ANYTHING about you foregoing a raise or any raises for that matter. I agree with you guys that you should be paid more. I've never said you shouldn't be. I support you and have said many many times that there should be GEOGRAPHIC PAY in our contracts. If you live in NYC I know you're getting murdered. (Try to think about the FSC too though since you're in our thread)

The jobs are leaving for multiple reasons. New aircraft and the stripping of our protection language thanks to the BK gun.

But accordingly is what you consider it to be? In BASE wages compared to the big 4 airlines I'm paid at the bottom of the industry currently.  We have Fleet work in cities that's outsourced and being worked by people making $9.00 per hour with no benefits. If I was to ask the Company those A-holes would probably consider that "accordingly" and think that's all I should be making.

You have to realize that's how they view you also. (Thank God for the RLA and the code 1113 BK, at least for that side of it)
I wasn't referring to YOU regarding what OH wants vs what the line wants. I was responding to those OH people who might feel that way.
Try not to blame every negative issue on BK. The TWU pioneered the many changes that benefitted the company at the expense of its members LONG before BK.

I am talking abut taking mechanics work and giving it to fleet service starting in 1983. The TWU agreed to this long before it was popular. Not every job done by a mechanic requires a license, but it was mechanics' work nonetheless. My memories are those of going to union meetings being told i'm out of order by people who were not mechanics. I was in the minority and the TWU made damn sure I knew it.

As it should be. This is not personal. I have many fleet service buddies myself. My gripe is with the TWU creating this environment. Even though you work for AA, you have to walk in a mechanic's shoes to understand how we feel about the TWU.

Metal 1983 was 33 years ago. Even you've said it was a different time and most of the people who did that are long gone from AA or are even DEAD. Not a single soul in our International or our ATD was in office back then and most of them (Maybe Virella?) weren't even in the company yet.

I think you're at a point where your blaming a name now more than the people who may have done bad things against you? 1983 was also just after deregulation and even you know that started to change things.

Ever think maybe you should open your mind and give these guys a chance? I think a lot of that animosity just keeps getting passed down from the old guys to the new guys sometimes?

Metal I ran into a guy I started with back in LGA here a few months back. He's a Mechanic now, good guy. We were talking for awhile and it was all laughs until he brought up that Harry Lombardo came to JFK and they ran him off. He's was talking about it with glee. I asked him one question, WHY? His faced changed because of the way I asked it. I could tell he was confused because I had asked that question. Then I said "Why didn't you hear what he had to say?" He responded sheepishly, "I don't know"

That told me that what he did was just a reaction taught to him. Nothing more. He was just going along with the crowd.

One thing I prefer not to do in life. Go along with the crowd.

I'll tell you why...SAME OLD SONG.....and dance.
You need to speak to the majority of JFK mechs who were at that meeting. Wasn't just about Lombardo, but his cronies he brought with him who seem to have use for us mechanics.

Give them a chance? Still appointing international reps without benefit of voting on them...Still raking in outrageous salaries without membership input or approval. Same old.

it's funny how you like to blame TWU actions on either BK or deregulation. But you and a few others like to insinuate that AMFA represented airlines outsource the most mainly because of AMFA's representation at the bargaining table.

The TWU's actions staring 32 years have haunted us til today.

Alright I give up. You win. Stick with your ideology for that grassroots thing. This isn't the place to discuss it anyway since as Chock said there are already 11 other threads devoted to it. But I will say that I don't believe it was only 1000 cards it was off by? Sorry I'm not buying it.

WHUT EVER HAPPEN
2 DOOSH N NIELSON?
BLUTO!!!!!! My Man...... DOOSH I heard went over to Abu Dabai to help secure the oil fields and while riding his camel it stepped into a small rodent hole and he was thrown. Unfortunately the Camel stepped on his sack and they said they were taking him to the Hospital. I'm worried though because they said he needed to wear an Orange jumpsuit???

Nielson on the other hand seems to have gone mostly off the radar except for a small blip here and there? Always watching the scope and monitoring for any "unusual" activity that might pop up there on that one.

Dude you didn't hear? He got himself a retry in June. 1 day from what I understand? Just haven't heard if or where he's trying to rebrand himself since he got the award? It's not on any of the Social Media sites and it's quiet as sin actually on both sides for that contest? "Strange"

A re run election and all is quiet from both sides. Are the Fleet Service members being played as puppets? How much extra effort and dues money is spent on a re run election? Is a re run election warranted? If so... why can't an election be conducted without objections? Will a re run election produce different results? If not... what a waste of membership dues! Both parties seem to be under a campaign "gag order" to this point.
