2015 AMT Discussion

The problem with a wall of silence is that people work to fill that void.

Dunno 'bout any of you, but i'd much rather hear something, even if it's only saying "there's nothing new to share."

I agree Kev.  Something is better than nothing. And nothings always lead to rumor mills getting out of control just like it is starting now about the job losses, but I still will stick with it's a ploy by the co and union...

I believe it was Doug Parker who said,  ( paraphrasing ) " there are a lot of good things in it for the mechanics"
Yeah good things like layoffs and downsizing and running the whole airline into the ground.  Moron.

Getting news from the twu is always a day late.

You will get the news when you read about it in the newspaper.

The twu represented mechanics will not get rid of the twu.

What is wrong with you?

How does Doug Parker saying there are good things in their offer for the mechanics running the airline into the ground?

Perhaps the status quo of the last 25 years has been good for all of us?

It has kept many employed at sub standard wages and benefits right?

First off do you believe his statement that he wants AA to be a great place to work?  If so do you think Tulsa is a great place to work?  I don't.  I think a prison like atmosphere is not a great place to work.  Also if you haven't noticed, TAESL is closing, they laid off AA AMTs in PHX and hired them for US Air.  More and more work disappearing from our side of the fence.  You consider this good?  Interesting.  Status quo the past 25 years were a lot like now.  Promises of good things to come without getting the good things.  Promises do not pay the bills Buck.  You should know that by now.

I never believe anything without proof, however at this point it has not been proven that Doug Parker has lied about anything. Can I say that about the agent I pay to represent me? No. I could answer your question about Tulsa be a great place to work like the latest leadership and point to the gate if you don't like it. When did I indicate anytime someone loses their job that I think it is good? I am an advocate of better wages and benefits, which under the current union we are lacking compared to our peers in the industry.  All I said was what I believe Doug Parker said.
You are on the edge of making this personal and I fail to see why. We are all in the same situation, all of us have our bills to pay.

What if the merger had not come along? You would not have anything to complain about? I see Doug Parker with at least an offer I never thought I would ever see in Tulsa at American Airlines, under the representation of the TWU. I just hope that the IAM has enough in them to show the TWU what strength is.

I was at the 514 meeting last week, and as I posted here before, Danker said the 800-1200 layoff rumor was just that, a rumor. It stemmed from something Wayne Thomas said at a meeting with TAESL people. Danker spoke to mark Easton and Larry Pike about it. It is JUST a rumor

All your misery is self induced, why would you work anywhere that you feel is a prison. With an A&P there are a lot of jobs out there. That goes for all you whiners out there. It's been rough working at any airline for the past 14 years, but prison, put the pacifier back in your mouth.

Remember you applied to AA, you weren't sentenced to work at AA. Just because you can't play dominos for 5 hours at work any longer doesn't make this a bad job. The culture at AA is changing, it seems a sense of accountability is making its way into the mix. Took a 2 minute delay the supv talked to me about it 3 times.

Word out on the layoffs in Tulsa last month. TWU says it's only a rumor. Based on past experience, layoffs are coming. Watch a T/A show up before the layoffs. Vote Yes to save jobs.

That's accountability?  Talking to you 3 times for the same event?  It doesn't say much for him if it takes him 3 tries to question you about a delay.  You explain what you're role in the delay and accept blame if it was your fault.  Three times on the same event is ridiculous.

1AA,
You're learning. Remember the 1995 CBA? AA had already RIF'd close to 1,500 out of the base. While I understand the mindset at the time was coming off years of deep losses and people were concerned about keeping their job, we shouldn't be fooled by that again. AAL is making big money and the analysts are saying this profit cycle will continue for at least three to four years. Job losses right now are being driven by new aircraft more than anything, except for the TAESL closure. (TAESL is viable but new management doesn't want to do third party work at all.) We should not be foooled by promises to stop RIF's. They said that in 2003, they said that when we did working together, and they will say it again now. Secure good compensation now and get good scope language. The overhaul work will drop off for the next several years because of the new aircraft and shift to do LC on the Airbus in line MX.

Pay attention. Learn from the past.

Now you see how a not informing the members gets the "rumors" flying.  Never fails...

Yes. Another ploy by the union and company working together just like last couple of times...

Buck I am not making a personal attack.  I was referring to Parker as a moron in an earlier post not you.  I guess I should have made it more clear I was referring to him.  My apologies.  You are right that if I don't like things I can hit the gate and keep going, but how does that make it better for those to come after us?  I feel we need to demand the respect from management we deserve and to also make this job something the next generation can raise a family while doing and also have confidence that they will have a decent retirement.  What I am talking about is us becoming the Anti-A Scalers.  Maybe we need T-Shirts.
