2015 AMT Discussion

I feel bad for us, where we have a guy like Owens, who only tells the membership what they want to hear, instead of telling us the position we are in. Remember when Owens said, AA will never be able to find enough open bays to bring our OH work. Didn't seem like that was to big of a problem for AA.

Not bitter !!!!!   Very happy, especially when we get our raise. I would never be one of those idiots who sit and complain all day.
Why listen to him at all? He is the treasurer not the president and certainly has no voice in negotiations this time around.

Bob Owens is the treasurer. He's not in the negotiations or the international. If you listen too him talk then so be it. But just like all of us it's an opinion. The international is calling the shots. My opinion is the negotiators are being told how to walk the line of negotiating. This is all new this time around. We know cuts are coming. Consolidation will happen. How much overhaul and line work does the company already want from us? I bet the association knows and is trying to figure out a way to sugar coat it before it gets to our level. Parker said it over and over. I firmly believe he hates Aircraft Maintenance. Look at the numbers on the USAir. They were making almost $10 an hour below the average until recently. Now it's our turn. Why is it taking so long? They know something bad is going to happen. Delta plus 3 will have a price attached too it.

Absolutely. the pro TWUers blamed Bob Owens for the entire negotiations. They are already blaming him now when he has NO say at all in what will happen.

1AA,
Talk on the floor is that AA is going to shift work that they feel is not AMT required to fleet, Title II, and South America (more cabin checks). I am not sure if that is because of the DL+7 DL+3 with DL work rules proposal from Parker. If Parker moves us towards the LUS MX programs (requires fewer total AMTs - note fewer AMTs per aircraft at US than AA under the IAM scope clause), outsourcing of all engine overhaul, and more work rule concessions we will see fewer AMTs but making more money on an individual basis.

Title II being Facility Maintenance?

I guess the non licensed AMT and lower senior AMT's are going to be very happy

that sounds about right since fleet service is running negotiations. stabbed in the back again.

So again tell me why we need our own class and craft union.

I don't think it's a TWU/IAM concession since the company and Assoc haven't even talked. It's got to be a company move. The existing TWU scope clause outlines the ground support shops moving away from AMT jobs if I read it right.

Again tell me why we need our own union to protect AMT jobs. If these jobs performed by AMT'S are going to fleet we would have something in our language to protect jobs. But since the twu represents us and fleet the twu could careless who gets the work as long as it's a twu dues paying member.

Excellent point, Fleet Service through there emotional reaction of being let go at bankruptcy is deciding which jobs are AMT's now that they are being rehired?

Are there any other A/C Maint. job functions left that FSCs haven't already poached from A/C Maintenance under the TWU's watch?  If this trend continues; next thing you know, the FSCs will be subject to random drug testing as well.
