Seniority Integration Protocol: The Facts

To be blunt, USAPA's version of events is fiction. USAPA leadership specifically and directly solicited this latest protocol proposal from the Seniority Integration Committee. USAPA's merger counsel was also briefed on the likely content of the protocol document several days before receipt. USAPA's abject failure to communicate these facts erodes the very foundation of trust necessary for any further negotiations. It is now apparent to us, just as it was to Judge Silver in the Addington v. USAPA DFR decision, that USAPA is using these tactics, including reneging on its bargain under the MOU and litigating the McCaskill-Bond process in court, with the express goal of delaying the NMB single-carrier finding.
Last week, before we passed our latest protocol proposal, APA Vice President FO Neil Roghair was invited to speak at USAPA domicile meetings in Charlotte and Philadelphia. The APA talking points were simple:

  • APA wants a smooth and amicable integration with the pilots of US Airways.
  • APA is committed to the process that we all agreed to and ratified in the MOU.
  • APA will take its duty of fair representation to all American Airlines pilots seriously.
FO Roghair communicated that the protocol agreement for seniority integration should be complete and that the only major barriers have been superfluous and unacceptable USAPA demands, including:
  • Obligating APA to pay post-single carrier USAPA bills, including costs of its current headquarters
  • Maintaining USAPA's independent operation authority throughout the JCBA and SLI process
  • Paying for ongoing litigation expenses in Addington and any subsequent DFR cases
  • Recognizing USAPA as a party to the protocol agreement even after USAPA ceases to be the certified bargaining representative (contrary to its own position in the Addington litigation, the judge's ruling in that case and the specific language of the MOU)
These are not commitments APA is willing to entertain and are what brought seniority protocol negotiations to a halt.

No, I haven't noticed.

As seems the case where real life and the world around you are concerned. No matter, I suppose. Feel perfectly free to continue along with your futile but "righteous" crusade to artificially advance yourself whole decades over other people who've actually earned their seniority through honest work.

Yet another blah,blah,blah...........PHX land of the damned!!! A place where stupid pilots sit and rot while new hires go into wide body planes and one year upgrades along with massive growth that they could have shared in but chose not to. You can't fix stupid, PHX is proof!

MB only pertains to actual bargaining agents. The APA is the agent. Decertifying your union before you were done attempting to use it as a weapon was..."unwise" lets say. Who knows what the Arbitrators will come up with for E/W.

maybe you'll get DOH..or The Nic on steroids.
Actually, no. The law also would grant rights to an unrepresented group as well. And read up on the 4th circuit appelate decision regarding the MidWest Express flight attendants, Teamsters, and SCS.

Massive growth, wide bodies, blah blah

I'll just watch you rearrange the chairs on the deck.

Did you read your association's Scope update??
"Expect more changes than CLT losing South American service in the future. Overflying a hub with one of our current routes will require compelling economics. More money stands to be made by reducing that capacity and moving the flying to a closer geographical point."

Guess you missed this part, we could care less where the flying is out of as long as " we would fly it". get it WE not you, you lose again.

1.We fly our own aircraft and APA flies theirs. There were rumors of 330 flying out of MIA being considered. That is allowed, but we would fly it.

Let's assume for hypothetical purposes that you mean AOL (your union), and lets assume for hypothetical purposes AOL is a union (I'm humoring you)...

Exactly how did AOL "discuss seniority"?

Did they discuss it in front of a mirror?

You will fly whatever aircraft your seniority takes you. You'll get a seat at at the table too. Patience grasshopper.

How come you are so cranky?
