You know most of them are pretty decent guys, then you have the guys like Spinthis Tony and the other westicles that really put a bad image for the rest of their group, I'm sure most of the west knows this has been long over, they call in to the office and ask what they can do to join in the growth and are tired of being screwed over by AOL, time will tell.

Agreed. Most of the west folks I've ever met seem decent sorts. Had not this nic-nonsense happened; I'd think the majority of us all could've gotten along pretty well. All of my over-the-top nonsense is, as has been many times stated, purely aimed at the funda"mental" "spartan" sorts. It must be fairly noted though, that their group, as a whole, bought into the "army" of leonidas/eternal litigation nonsense, and hardly for any "noble" reasons. The nowadays sad scenario out west wouldn't have happened had enough actual adults said; "Whoa!...How 'bout we stop with all the "Integrity Matters" T-shirts/"This is sparta!"/pretending to be "battle"-tested-"knights" in some supposed "army" BS...and actually talk with the east pilots and work something out? "You won't even get 200 cards!..Send the cards, I DARE you!" "NO fences!" and "The nic will be crammed down your throats!" came up a bit short there. For a brief refresher on some of the people being dealt with; I'll offer the following, especially at 1:30 into the video. "You know why I hate you?...I was 16 numbers from being" (wait for it, this is a deeply spiritual and truly righteous moment to follow) "a 757 captain!"...which ironically paid the same as anything else at AWA anyway, but no matter. English translation for both the inspired dialog and simian gesturing = "WAAAH! I wanna' 757 T-shirt! It's now-and-forever just ALL about MEEE!...WAAAH!":

Ya' just gotta' be kidding me!...? No? Seriously!? Sigh!...OK then. Let me at least try to get this straight here: This person was furloughed and subsequently bailed from the east/US for a gig at AWA, and yet wants to now be magically given artificially inflated, super-"seniority" over his fellows that stuck it out on the east?...And that of not only his contemporaries, but even those with two full decades of more years worked than himself?...Again I must ask...Seriously?...Or is he just kidding? Sigh! Such people couldn't be at best laughably made up as even slightly believable characters in comic books. "Integrity Matters!" Let's hear another rousing round of cheers for "spartan"..umm..."integrity" and of course "righteousness"! That nonsense never gets too old for good chuckles. 😉

Hypothetical redirect of ashfin Iranpour;

2007

Q: So ahsfin, you gave up your East pilot seniority number after being hired by america west and knowledge of the nic award result,  you then gained 17 years of pilot seniority??

A:  Yes I did.  I gained 17 years because I am the man, a genius and have superior thinking and judgment skills versus the east pilots.

2013

Q: So afshin, you gave up your East pilot seniority and lost seventeen years of seniority by staying on the west list, what happened?

A:  I am a victim.  Oh the inhumanity!  I must be protected by the court system.  After all, i am human and must be protected by the court system due to my inherent lack of judgment and thought process.

Yep, as completely crazy as that seems, that does appear to be the "case" he's offering. 😉

Spinthis- a true conservative, a man Ronald Reagan would embrace.
A true hero of the border, gun rights activist. Wears fancy boots.
Yet when it comes to his personal benefit to leap years ahead of a fellow American through a totally artificial mechanism- runs with it, no questions. Even when one of the pilots worked 17 yrs un furloughed. That pilot goes with a west new hire.
Phony.

That's easy.

1. Stop sending money to the whack-a-doodle AOL leadership.
2. Start putting that money in a new LLC, hire an attorney and sue the AOL principals for damages.

I don't see any grass in that pic just like your career.

" given a static fleet scenario, more than one-third of East attrition is a result of First Officer retirement, which will not yield an additional upgrade"

25 Captain 3 F/O retirements latest bid.

No grass? It sounds like you'll have to wait for another USAPA update to keep that high going.
Until the crash of reality sets in....

All this talk of AOL and EF smells of desperation. If it were not for Ferguson and Koontz there would have been a complete land grab and unchecked greed by the "union" formed by East pilots, for the East pilots while falsely claiming it represents all the pilots of US Airways.

West pilots appreciate all that USAPA has done to help East pilots advance their careers.

Your land grab started the whole mess. Your unwillingness to face the fact if you pushed the issue, you would lose it all. You pushed, you lost.

Laid-off pilots: Go to end of list
Nov. 9, 2008 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic

Afshin Iranpour has been laid off once by US Airways, after 9/11. Now he's scheduled to go through it again.

The big difference this time, He's a pilot for the former America West, the airline that merged with his ex-employer in 2005.

That gives him a unique perspective - and strong opinions- about the issues behind the bitter battle. He is one of six pilots who filed a lawsuit against the airline's new union and the company in September to stop the furloughs and find the new pilots' union guilty of not fairly representing the former America West pilots.

Iranpour, who joined America West in 2004, doesn't think it's fair that any of the pilots on furlough from the old US Airways at the time of the merger and since recalled get to leapfrog America West pilots such as himself under certain seniority systems.

Ironically, Iranpour says he would not be facing a layoff early next year if he had accepted a recall offer in summer 2007 from the new US Airways and headed back East to fly. He had been gone from the old US Airways for six years at that point, but the layoffs were governed by date of hire of the pilot per each airline's existing contract.
"I never ever believed that I had a right to come in as a furloughed employee who hadn't contributed anything to the company for years, to come in and bump so many guys on the West that have been working here full time for the past six years," he said.

Iranpour, who turns 39 Tuesday, admits his America West seniority is better than his old US Airways seniority under a merged seniority list drawn up by a federal arbitrator and believed by the America West pilots to binding.

He said he is fundamentally opposed to a combined list that puts US Airways workers out of a job at the time of the merger ahead of America West pilots.
"We took on the risks, and I think we should get the rewards," he said.

The arbitrator generally agreed with his and others' stance about the furloughed workers and put them at the bottom of the seniority list.
Iranpour finds it incredulous that pilots from the old US Airways are trying to overturn that decision through the new union. He said it was a no-brainer for the East pilots to push for date of hire at the outset of arbitration because their airline is so much older than America West.
"But for them to stick to it all the way through, and then after arbitration to try and fight it and throw it out, is just mind-boggling to me," he said.
