One could justly argue that the Billion dollar profits Airlines are making has come at the Expense of the unions , healthcare , pensions , wages , benfits ect ...

i think by now i have a "feel" for the game , i've been playing merger mania for awhile now .
A feel for the game from the " Gamer" is a little different than the feel from the audience. The audience determines your perception of the game. Your hope should be to " Aspire " to the audiences knowledge of it ( the game ). Then and only then can we hope to win as a team.

Team ?

Team ?

Do our members even know what that means ? I am just too tired right now to rant for paragraphs about the lack of solidarity in this union , but belive me the desire to do so is there ...

The Team is still there! Whether 2 or 200. Consider yourself where you best fit in. Rant all you want. It's good to get it out. Being tired is an excuse. If it wasn't,  you probably wouldn't have mentioned it.

psa8979,
As Recording Secretary of my Local Lodge for the past 9 years I have seen the updates provided by DL 142 to the membership of Maintenance & Related regarding contract negotiations. I view each one of them as I prepare the Communications report for our monthly meetings. Although DL 142 generates, by far, more paper updates that are mailed to the locals and I believe to each member than DL 141, in the end I find them to be vanilla in nature. Lots of "updates" but lacking details of proposals exchanged. These mailings are at a great cost to the district and ultimately the members of DL 142. I find the updates on the DL 141 website (iamdl141.org) just as informative and equally lacking details of proposals exchanged. At least the "updates" provided on the DL 141 website are more cost efficient. First 19 years in PIT (US). Last 15 years in JAX (US). I knew a guy in Fleet in PIT with the same last name.

I would like to submit my thoughts concerning updates and communications concerning ongoing contract negotiations. First of all; it should be understood that as a group we have elected our separate unions, and now the merged Association, as our bargaining representative. With that being said... we should have confidence in the fact that our elected leaders and future NC members will actively pursue and defend our needs and collective best interests. The wants and needs will be demonstrated to the NC by the future survey. I strongly encourage everyone to submit their input in this survey. We must have faith they will stay true to the results of the survey. IMO... the NC at US accomplished many, not all, of the expectations of the US membership with the most recent CBA. I realize the memberships' hunger for information as the negotiating process takes place. However, the detailed proposals put forth by both parties is ever changing in negotiations. Releasing information to the membership that is ever changing tends to create confusion and can be counter productive to solidarity. IMO...as a member, you can spare me the day to day, week to week or month to month details. When my NC tentatively agrees to a contract I will have the opportunity to review the final details. As a member; I will decide to accept or reject. In the meantime... my NC is at the table as my agent to look after the best interests of the entire group. In the meantime... I suggest we Lock and Load and await orders!

Been tending to non work items but I dropped by to ask what I think is a significant question which I haven't the answer to.  Did the IAM/Association file for automatic recognition as some have suggested?

My understanding was that fleet and MX would be voting on the Association.  IMO, no sweat if we don't have to vote, in our case, the Association will win anyways.  But the significance comes in with the mechanics. Some AMFA organizers seem to be saying that the Association may not be voted upon with the MX group, and that it may be automatic????   If so, then it preserves the Association and makes it the biggest union on the property by far.  If not, then it appears AMFA is trying to organize a write in campaign in which the potential could exist that AMFA could win.  That would affect us negatively, imo.

At any rate, maybe this was talked about on previous pages, but can someone catch me up to speed on the filing?

It's Tim, and Josh showed back up today over in the AA forum. I have never been a subscriber to the Tim/Josh same theory, but some things make you go hmmmm!
