I flew a full plane out of there yesterday, and the gate area was packed.....**yawn** Captain Battootie's back with his same old tired schtick...
why is South West Airlines at Dulles I don't see them growing?
Southwest Airlines next new routes from Dulles:For one, who is "South West"? I bet they don't even fly to IAD, let along grow there. B) For two, if you meant Southwest Airlines just wait, I'm sure the company will be calling to ask you for what our next move should be.
Southwest pulled one flight from Dulles- Orlando. Flew yesterday up on SW empty plane and United flights all 8 were over sold. Reason-- connections to europe. There's plenty of cities where Southwest only operates a handful of daily flights. What's the big deal? I'm sure the "Powers That Be" knew wat they were doing when the decision was made.
WN does not make bad moves. They make smart moves with a proven track record. How long has WN been profitable? And how long have all the rest been profitable? WN has never been one to appease the critics and will do things their own way.Southwest pulled one flight from Dulles- Orlando. Jetblue is starting one RJ and 320 to orlando in June from dulles. So SW.. made a bad move into dulles..

SWA sure must have a big nose to smell so well. Too bad they don't use that nose for other things that would help them.
If they are doing so well at IAD then why do they have such a miserable showing? No growth and a clinging presence is hardly a earth shattering involvement at IAD. It appears B6 has a better position at IAD than SWA. B6 is in many head to head UA markets and they do a pretty good job of it. SWA is but an afterthought to the NOVA crowd. One thing about the people in NOVA is they like to be treated like they are special. Something about the area that has turned them into believing they are somehow better than the rest of the country. I true NOVA snob would not be caught dead boarding an SWA jet. They either want to be 1K's on UAL or they will reward themselves with a nice comfy TV B6 flight. Flying SWA to NOVA is like riding Greyhound or shopping at WALMART. They won't do it.
Perhaps if the Hanes Wife Beater futures go up in NOVA then SWA may have a chance of generating some grip. In the mean time their "noses" will be bloodied by the other carriers at IAD.
I have to respectfully disagree. ATL is the gaping whole in their route map, the busiest airport in the US and taking on both FL and DL is something they'd have to grow some big ones to do.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I've got a healthy respect for "ol' Walmart w/wings", and from my lowly opinion, there is only "1" city that WN must (FINALLY) go into, to prove to me that they have(LARGE) intestinal fortitude....(NO, it's not JFK).........It's MSP, and taking BIG RED head on.
As for B6,(IMHO) WN does'nt lose 1 moment of sleep over them !
NH/BB's
In due time, I think they'll be in ATL and MSP. They've got big ones...but I think they are a bit compassionate. I mean...if they REALLY wanted to kill Delta, they would have been in ATL the day after they filed the de riguer bankruptcy filing. Imagine...Delta having to compete against Southwest AND Airtran while trying to reorganize. Had they moved into ATL right after the bankruptcy filing, I think DL would now be a part of US and the primary hub become CLT.I have to respectfully disagree. ATL is the gaping whole in their route map, the busiest airport in the US and taking on both FL and DL is something they'd have to grow some big ones to do.
Didn't Herb once say that WN did not serve ATL because he "did not want WWIII with Delta."
I think it was during a meeting of CEO's on CSPAN in the mid 90's
