Wisconsin

Right, just like Bill Maher says he is one of you as well. Looks like duck, quacks like a duck...

Again with the personal insults and name calling. I've often pondered why free thinkers seem to upset those who follow the Republican or Democrat Dogma.

I try my very best to respect all points of view and frankly you make that task quite difficult with the way in which you choose to engage me. Granted that we have an extremely left wing President who IMO hasn't read critical portions of the Constitution. This does not excuse the actions in WI by either side.

My prediction is that this maneuver by Walker will ultimately backfire on him and the Republicans. The open question is will it spread to other states? Governor Christie is being touted as a potential Presidential candidate. When you mention Walker, people just shake their heads in disgust and I have a highly diverse social circle. Who spoke for the kids in WI? Here is the Libertarian view on Education:

2.8 Education

Education, like any other service, is best provided by the free market, achieving greater quality and efficiency with more diversity of choice. Schools should be managed locally to achieve greater accountability and parental involvement. Recognizing that the education of children is inextricably linked to moral values, we would return authority to parents to determine the education of their children, without interference from government. In particular, parents should have control of and responsibility for all funds expended for their children's education.

Hardly a pro union view. I marginally support unions because I owe my 40/hr week, 5 day work week, Health benefits and until recently a vibrant & growing middle class to unions. My Dad was a Teamster and I was on the picket line with him as early as age eight. Now that same Middle Class is being assaulted by the Republicrat & Demicans. The dogma and venom spewed by both is IMO designed to take the average persons eyes off of the fact is the Rat B*stards that have run this country have sold us down the river to the point where the will of the people is ignored and they run amok because we really live in a one party nation. I often refer to Congress as the Politburo for this reason.

"Wis. GOP bypasses Dems, cuts collective bargaining! "

"The nearly month-long standoff in the Wisconsin Legislature over explosive union rights legislation rocketed toward a dramatic finish Thursday after Senate Republicans outmaneuvered their missing Democratic counterparts and pushed through the bill."

It's about time someone grew a set. Used a page right out of Nobama's and the Demorats playbook !

But that's not fair if you're Republican.

And the unhinged go on a rampage...with death threats.

Why? Cause I compared you to fellow Libertarian Bill Maher? Ok then...

I try my very best to respect all points of view
Since when?

You are no better then anyone else. No matter what you think of yourself. Don't kid yourself, elitist smugness is not a flattering character trait.

Maybe not but its funny as hell watching the libs lose their minds over it.

Walker Talks

Why I'm Fighting in Wisconsin
We can avoid mass teacher layoffs and reward our best performers. But we have to act now

In 2010, Megan Sampson was named an Outstanding First Year Teacher in Wisconsin. A week later, she got a layoff notice from the Milwaukee Public Schools. Why would one of the best new teachers in the state be one of the first let go? Because her collective-bargaining contract requires staffing decisions to be made based on seniority.

Ms. Sampson got a layoff notice because the union leadership would not accept reasonable changes to their contract. Instead, they hid behind a collective-bargaining agreement that costs the taxpayers $101,091 per year for each teacher, protects a 0% contribution for health-insurance premiums, and forces schools to hire and fire based on seniority and union rules.

My state's budget-repair bill, which passed the Assembly on Feb. 25 and awaits a vote in the Senate, reforms this union-controlled hiring and firing process by allowing school districts to assign staff based on merit and performance. That keeps great teachers like Ms. Sampson in the classroom.

There you have it. You cant "negotiate" with unions. Its a farce.

Milwaukee teachers union drops Viagra suit

The Milwaukee teachers union has dropped a lawsuit seeking to get its taxpayer-funded Viagra back.

The union sued in July 2010 to force the school board to again include the erectile dysfunction drug and similar pills in its health insurance plans.

The union has argued the board's policy of excluding such drugs from the plans discriminates against male employees; the board has countered the 2005 move was meant to save money.

Court records indicate attorneys for the union, the school board and the state Labor and Industry Review Commission agreed to dismiss the lawsuit on March 1. Messages for all three groups' attorneys weren't immediately returned.

Wait a minute! You mean you didn’t know that the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association was fighting to save their $786,000 (per year) purple pill-popping habit?

Two years ago [in 2008], the Milwaukee school district decided that it was more interested in enhancing teacher performance in the classroom than the bedroom.

The district cut Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs like Cialis and Levitra from its health insurance plan, hoping to save $786,000 a year.

Officials said too many teachers were using the expensive drugs for recreation, swelling their insurance rates. An estimated 1,000 of the 10,000 school’s staff, which includes employees, dependents and retirees, were using the drugs.

Death Threat Emails

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes
will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain
to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it
will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit
that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for
more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

This type of thing is clearly wrong. What would be interesting is for the Police in WI to investigate every single one of the e-mails in question and compile a list of everyone who sent the death threat e-mails and their political affiliations.

My prediction is that a significant number of the total will be from Walker supporters trying to discredit the opposition as it would be an action right out of the Leftist playbook.

What an interesting world we live in. One where true outsiders like Libertarians are called elitists and Sarah Palin has a legitimate shot at being POTUS while candidates like Herman Cain & Ron Paul are marginalized by the mainstream media and both parties as they represent a change from the status quo.
