Wisconsin

See what polls say after the vote goes down. That will be the real deal.

Yep. November's a long ways off.

BTW, in regards to an earlier post of yours, the DOA backed off the 7.5M clean up fee, and now claim 350k. Interestingly, the painters union has volunteered to do it for free. No go, according to Walker.

Yeah, they mentioned the price in the article might have been off. I could see some jumping to extremes...none the less, there should be only normal trash pickup.

The trash has been collected by volunteer patrols from almost the get go. The 7.5M originally cited was largely to remove tape and other residue from the marble walls. Blue painter's tape was used almost exclusively by protesters at the request of either the capitol police or the DOA (sorry, can't remember which)... I'm sure you're well acquainted with how easily it comes off, and how little of itself it leaves behind...

Most likely a lesson hard learned through the media when similar factions held that rally in DC and trashed the place.

GOP senators find way to advance collective bargaining bill without Democrats present

In a surprise move late Wednesday, Senate Republicans voted to move forward with the governor's controversial budget repair bill, sending the measure into a conference committee scheduled for later in the day.

Republican leaders would only say the Senate bill differed from the Assembly bill and indicated it was possible lawmakers could strip fiscal elements from the proposal and pass only the measures dealing with collective bargaining.

Such a move would allow Republicans to pass the governor's bill without the 20 Senate members needed to vote on fiscal matters.

Article 13???

Oh yeah?

MADISON, Wis. — Republicans pushed a provision stripping public employees of their collective bargaining rights through the state Senate Wednesday evening by separating it from Gov. Scott Walker's controversial budget bill.
The action, if it stand, would have the effect of rendering moot a Democratic attempt to keep the provision from passing the Senate. The vote in the Senate was 18-1. No Democrats were present

Well in reality, Obama and his progressive administration set precedent by "ramming thru" legislation. Wonder how they like the taste of it now?

Just proves what many have been saying all along; this was never truly about "balancing the budget." Rather, it was a poorly veiled attempt at a power grab. Of course, they also ignored WI's "open meetings" law, which requires that these proceedings have 24 hr. notice, and are open. Oops.

Like I said a few pages up, "may you live in interesting times."

Walkers move tonight reminds me of Reagan firing the traffic controllers. Nice to see a Republican with balls again. Bravo!

I think its funny as ####. The liberals are absolutely having an epic steller meltdown! The comments on Huffpoo and DU are priceless!

They are snorting about "rule of law" etc. Even a few obvious death threats too. Go figure.

Like I said before the liberal progressives set precedent by "ramming thru" legislation. Now they are having a fit over having it thrown back in their face.

Scott Walker, America’s Thatcher

Reducing the power of government unions has several major benefits:
1) It will begin to make it easier to rework pension and healthcare obligations;
2) it will begin to make it easier to restructure government so that it is more efficient and less expensive;
3) it will begin to end a system where a major political party often acts as a wholly owned subsidiary of a special interest; and
4) it will begin help save the U.S. education system where teachers unions are preventing children from being taught by competent teachers.

Scott Walker for Prez 2012? Hmmmm....

I think its funny as ####.

There is no humor in an end around. It's duplicity at best.

And again, I would ask why someone who claims to be a line F/A-and is therefore labor- would so gleefully advocate against her own interests? I guarantee you it's not going to earn you a place in the gentry.

DU?

Nothing to "snort" about. There *are* actually still laws on the books in WI that Walker hasn't gotten around to repealing yet. One of them is the Open Meetings law, which was violated tonight.

Scott Walker for Prez 2012? Hmmmm....

Hmmmm indeed.

There has been widespread speculation that getting the nod for either '12 or '16 has been his ulterior motive all along.
