Well, keep in mind I'm just your run of the mill mechanic..... I apollojize for the spelling airs. U du get my point..... Right? Remember, it's the thought that counts. So quit being a dumbarse.... My spelling errors pale in comparison to your thought process. If you could even call it that. Vote no and get ready to find a new yob.

Another reason I voted Yes.

I'm not a "line machanic".

The vote no crowd is all about doing anything they can to get the OH bases shut down in order to get the AMFA in. Why is the biggest push for the no vote coming from the line? They couldn't care less about the OH mechanics. Hell, they have a welder as their "feerles" leader. Go figure....

Owens: If the biggest push is coming from the line as you say its because we know we cant live off what the company is offering, and we know what the job pays everyone else in the industry. Six years, no matter what they are promising how things will change is simply too long to stay at the bottom.

We all know how concerned you are about Ovhl AMTs Bob, like hell you are.

Sounds like a bitter chap to me.

Attended the meeting in Tulsa in the CAM building today. John Hewett and Tony Bunch were there to answer questions. Title 2 guys were there and talking about all the "talent" that is quitting and leaving the company. They are obvious yes votes because of the latest offer that doesn't lay them off (yet). I asked how we can accept 50% sick pay while everyone else in the company gets full. Hewett said we wanted separate negotiations so that's what we have. I countered by saying this is a basic benefit offered at just about any place that employs workers. But did not get a bite. I also stated that the pilot's contract was backdated three years and they said they didn't know that. Steve Luis stated that he is voting no. He spoke for a couple of minutes and basically said he saw this coming but couldn't tell us back in 2010. (I for one would not have believed it back then). Jay Potter stated that all the MD80 work will be going away and the new aircraft that will replace it will not need maintenance so that will increase the amount of layoffs until the line outnumbers O/H. He actually used this to try to convince a yes vote. Hewett and Bunch never denied that lots of heads would eventually be gone. Their way of thinking is that by voting yes we keep the heads we can for a little longer. I then spoke and said I was voting no because I thought it was the right thing to do. I said there is no personal agenda and that it was everyone's choice to make for their own reasons. I also said I'd be holding a vote no sign. I thanked Hewett and Bunch for taking the time to answer questions and face the wrath of angry mechanics. I gotta admit they didn't try to hide, and I did not hear them try to distort any facts. Their point is this is a terrible deal, but they don't want to leave it to the judge. I shook Hewett's hand before I left and told him I would agree to disagree with him. I still think voting no is the right thing to do. I also said that sooner or later we will have to tell AA that we have had enough. So if you see an oldguy holding a vote no sign tomorrow (Dang it's gonna be hot too) across the street from the front gate, honk if you agree. If you don't agree then don't think I am a bad person or that I am your enemy. I have been to two of the meetings now and made a few points. I will hold my sign to show the no voters they are not alone. When the votes are counted we will see how the majority has voted and we will have to live with the results. AA has tried to make this an O/H vs Line, AMT vs Title2, etc. The reality of it is that Tom Horton has declared war on all of us and is threatening to make us extinct. It is all of us against AA. Let's not forget that.

After the meeting I talked to several who were voting no that are now voting YES, I believe that happens after every meeting they have, personally I am very confident that the contract will pass this time and life will go on until the next contract.
We all have to do whats in our families best interest and the Majority will decide as it always has.

That's funny. I talked to several who were yes votes and are now no votes. Go figure.

You mean your best interest. This LBO that you are voting yes on has no best interest for you or your family. Don't coward into this raping of our profession unless you are a union stooge or a fear monger. I hope you realize what a Yes vote means. Really means. We win nothing by voting Yes. We give up our self respect and dignity. The International and the company are misleading all of us into thinking that a yes vote is the way to go. The judge will not abrogate. AA has too much money in the bank, loads are high and we are making money even after the bills are paid to all the blood sucking lawyers and analysts. We have a large aircraft order with all the financing in place, a record order that is. The sad thing is we still have people believing the poverty song to the judge. Do you really want to think that a yes vote is the only way to go? Do you really????

I believe people will tend to say one thing depending on who they are talking to just to prevent an argument.

I voted YES on the first day because it is what is right for me & my family you vote whatever way works for you, I will not be voting your way, I believe everyone else will also be voting for what is right for them as they should and only they can decide what is right for them not me or you, i'm not worried about this vote because I am sure that it will pass that is just my gut feeling after talking to others, if after it passes you cannot live with it then you are free to find a better job at another company, your choice.
I for one can't wait till August 7th and all this is over, no more arguing about it or guessing what will happen it will be over and we can move on to at least 6 years of peace and quiet, really looking forward to that.
1AA I agree the judge will not abrogate because we will have a 6 year contract this one in my opinion isn't hard to guess.
