I have been told and have every reason to believe it. Before the bankrupcty filing, the TWU leadership, most notably Pike had been actively having meetings and stating how the company was bluffing, etc. Since the bankruptcy filing, nothing, won't even show their face on the property. So, how about it? How anyone seen any members of the TWU leadership, Pike, or anyone else. And if not, why not??

What makes you think we ever had leadership? I haven't seen Any in 20 years. If they had any balls we wouldn't be in this Predicament,it would have all happened in 2003.

You will see them after the company makes a contract offer and they will tell you we better take it Brother...

I did't mean to sound so harsh but,I had better representation at a grocery store, the TWU is all about the membership dues only....

Just a reminder "will strike when Provoked", "We will get em next time Brother"," Shared Sacrifice","Pull together win together" I'm sure I forgot a few..

They are busy fighting like hell to protect the memberships best interest.

Owens is going to get us the UA deal at the very least he said. Of course he also said AA was bluffing then changed it to this was the plan all along. He has that lever of going to 30 day cooling off that he is going to use to get us a great contract but oh wait, can't do self-help in BK. He said we would be better off in BK, but oh wait, didn't everyone else get shafted in BK court by the "benevolent" BK judge? Didn't Bob say that the Int'l was going to step in and take the contract negotiations over and settle in back door sessions with the great Svengali Videtich, oh wait, that conspiracy theory didn't happen either.

Boy, I sure am glad that Bob knows that our pensions aren't in danger, nobody will get laid off, no work outsourced, and we will all get a raise in BK court.

We could have used self-help in BK if we had been released, which the twu intl with the help of 514 and titled 2 refused to ask for until Nov 30th 2011 and AA filed for BK on the 29th imagiine that go ahead and blame Bob, all it does is provide proof postive that you cannot change the twu from within.

As far as the int'l stepping in and taking over negotiations goes I believe that is just whats happened they will settle with the company and say take it or the judge will impose it on you.

You really need to get off the cool aid it appears it is causing you to break with reality.

Reality? The Flight Attendants and the Fleet Group asked to be released SEVERAL times with the NMB not listening. The NMB knew BK was a possibility and weren't inclined to make a decision. There was a deal on the table in '08..since then the choices have gotten worse and worse and worse. The reality is that the longer the put off making a tough decision, the worse it will be.

I'm tired of our leaders telling us to fight and that if we follow them we will do great, then when we get slapped they blame the International. Sickening.

Sorry, but the NMB doesn't typically delay action because of the company's financial state. Anyone blaming them is simply ignorant or in denial.

The mediators are career professionals. They take action based on what they see after decades of experience.

From what's been said elsewhere, the mediator put the large groups on ice because the unions' positions were either seen as unreasonable (e.g. restore & more), or that the negotiating committee was wasting everyone's time because they weren't in touch with the membership (e.g. coming to a TA and having to pull it when it met with almost violent response).

And to be fair, two of the smaller title groups in the TWU successfully ratified new contracts -- Tech specialists in Aug 2010, and Sim Techs/Instructors in Oct 2011. That says it wasn't necessarily the International or the Company. And, as a point of reference, it will be interesting to see if they take haircuts on the same order as Fleet, Stores or M&E.

Well all I know is the leadership just got relected up there so you must be in the minority or that would not have happened. I do not dispute the fact that it was very unlikely we would have been released and given that fact it was hard to understand why the refusal by the int'l ask for it, hell they had to use a roll call vote to stop the committee from asking for it {thanks 514} then they turn right around and set the Nov 30th date to ask for it, I was thinking this makes no sense, then boom the company files on the 29th and it is clear they were taking no chances the company could not afford a release and the int'l made sure there would not be one plain and simple.

If they were professionals and they take action based in what they see, then they would have released the parties. There would not have been put on ice. Since they have first hand knowledge of what is happening within the Company, it is safe to say they knew the possibility of BK and decided to let the cards fall where they may. The sides get a deal or the Courts get a deal. Either way, the current Administrations wouldn't have to deal with a hot potato during campaign season.
