When Would Be A Good Time

A strike makes absolutely no sense. If you feel you need to strike to prove a point then you're as scared and full of self doubt that you accuse those that are willing to listen are. Before you choose to commit career suicide you might want to know what you're worth on the open market. It might not be what you think you are.

A strike can make perfect sense. It represents a chance for a group of employees to collectively proclaim their self worth. There have been many on these boards proclaiming that pay and benefits are a result of what the market will bare, and the stark reality of the situation is that the airline market has changed. Most people agree with that statement, however, the employee market will change as well. At some point, employees will determine that the market rate is too low, and a strike would merely demonstrate that employees feel the market rate has fallen to an unacceptable level.

EXACTLY

And yes, since we don't like the conditions being foisted upon us, we will just quit. As a group!

If the judge grant Usairways the ability to lay aside the union contracts does that not makes you " at will " employees which means you are no longer protected by the contract that was formed between union, labor and management and so if you strike you could be terminated .

Secondly background checks will not take that long seeing that fingerprints can be cleared in less than a week. And researching a person work history really does not take that long..
The only people who can shut the company down will be pilots since they have to be certified in whatever aircraft they fly and the question is how many people will strike.
And there is also the Star Alliance network ..for instance LH could take over the Frankfurt routes ...and usairways could code these flight and get some revenue from it.....
All other work groups is pretty much dispensable seeing new employees can be brought in within weeks and remember Usairways group have those pesky wholly owned subs that can do the work plus the countless of ex TWA ..ex Delta .. ex Northwest ex AA etc get the picture ..there are a lot of people with experience who can be easily cleared and ready to replace all you idiots who dare to strike...

There are many scenarios but why do it the hard way ...why do something that only you in the long run will suffer the consequences and would bet that the same people who will strike is probably the same ones who will vote for Bush .

There is a time when not "giving the prick the satisfaction " is called for but never when you are the one who will suffer..because I am sure management will find a new job somewhere faster than anyone of us can .

It's obvious ....you know not of what you spew.

It just doesn't matter anymore. The proposed cuts get USAir..ways thru the winter, then what. Another round of cut's......Morale is gone, so will be the company soon.

Sorry to be so negative...

Respectfully, Respectfully, Respectfully....you know the pilot's mantra...

 Its time for the employees of this company to stand up and fight for what
is right. joke management 4% raise in april and a 5% cut in january equals
no pay cut.

Are you using George Bush Fuzzy Math?

If you get a 4% raise and then a 5% cut, in reality it is only a 1% cut for them from their last raise.

You are showing your ignorance so let me spell it out with an example and if you want to correct somebody make sure you are right.

$10.00 plus 4% = $10.40
$10.40 minus 5% = $9.88

$10.00 minus $9.88 = $.12

$.12 divided $10.00 = 1.2% cut and that's the real reality

nothing fuzzy just 3rd grade math, hmm maybe fuzzy to you. Ask your son he can help you figure it out lol

Now guys,

Technically, it's a 1.2% paycut. $100 + 4% = $104. 5% of $104 = $5.20. $104 - $5.20 = $98.80.

1% or even - either is close enough.

All in fun. Its just I know our friend and even with it spelled out to him he cannot ever admit he is wrong. Just like he never admitted I was right and he was wrong about difference between 1113 and 1114 even when I forwarded an email to him from his own source Sharon Levine that spelled out the differences.

When he is proved wrong he gives silent treatment hehe

Silent but not above reporting to moderator me using idiot to descibe him. So I removed the reference

Told you he has no b**** to admit he is wrong then the silent treament. Take that as proof it is usless arguing any points with him as he will never tell you you are right unless he agrees even if you prove him wrong. re: 700uw

Every airline is watch all this and I'm telling you that if we get crushed by these cuts it won't matter DAL,UAL,AMR who ever will be in trouble if U comes out of the gate with these slave wages they will have to do some quick changes to compete we will be broke as employee's but whos cares NOBODY ......I agree that we should strike if the full spectrum of these cuts is cast down.
But nodody wins not you not me. The other airlines will be the only ones at the finish line scarfing down whats left of the carcus.........

Good luck to all and start going on interviews. I have been looking for a year there other jobs you just have to keep looking.
