What's the attitude in Tulsa?

I am Marlene Borisuck, Executive Secretary to TWU International President James C. Little, and the subject of deeply offensive and hurtful remarks by “Duke 787” (posted at 11:12 am on December 6 under the “American Airlines” topic “What’s the Attitude in Tulsa”). I will not comment on whether Duke’s remarks are legally defamatory as that may be raised by me in the future.

“Duke 787” obviously considers himself something of a humorist; one may be forgiven for not cracking a smile, though, at his notion that TWU’s salary structure for its administrative employees is determined by the need to keep us from belonging to a union (I, along with fellow staff members, happen to be a dues paying member of TWU). However, Duke’s so-called humor alone would not even have elicited from me a comment, let alone the demand which I make below.

What is hurtful and offensive in Duke’s flip remarks is his expressed—and alleged—“hope” that I am “not just an expensive prostitute.” Duke may think that he has managed to avoid accusing me of being a prostitute by raising it as a purported “question”; but in fact, his comment was obviously engineered to make precisely that accusation. His expressed “hope” that I am not the sort of degraded creature that he accuses me of being is no more believable than his silly claim that he intended no offense by his remark. Is there a woman around who would not be deeply offended by his words? In my particular case, I note that I was notified of his offensive comment by a 1 AM call from my husband; hearing about it from him only multiplied the pain of seeing Duke 787’s words in print, spread all over the cyberworld

I ask, and demand that AviationForums immediately remove Duke 787’s offensive and hurtful remarks from the website, as your website rules provide (a copy of this was sent to “contacts” at AviationForum).

I also ask that Duke 787 identify himself and apologize in this Forum. An apology is obviously necessary and justified. And an anonymous apology, equally obviously, has no meaning. Is Duke a real man? His willingness to take responsibility for his deeply offensive statement, and to himself stand up and apologize for it, will provide the answer to this question.

The Internet can be a wonderful place, as well as a terribly cruel one. As I join the ranks of those who have been injured by its cruel side, I ask AviationForums and all its readers—including Duke 787—to join with me in rejecting the kind of cheap opportunities that the Internet offers to make anonymous and hurtful remarks.

Marlene, I apologize for what you consider hurtful words. I meant not to attack you personally. It was a poor attempt of what I consider humor.

I am frustrated at the TWU paying a secretary a 6 figure salary (double what I make with 25 plus years of aircraft maintenance experience) with my union dues. I'm also frustrated that union officials get paid over $200k a year with my union dues, when for the past 7 years no union member has had a substantial raise.

I will remain anonymous, but my apology is just as sincere.

So what does a secratary do to earn 140k a year compared to an aircraft mechanic?
I would like to know that very question, and a host of others as well.

I've never heard of an $140,000 executive secretary, until recently with the TWu LM2.

What is an "executive secretary" compared to a "regular secretary", and why does Little have one when he's not an executive? (Although paid like one).

How much vacation and sick time did she lose since the 2003 AA concessions, if any?

In a nutshell, what cuts did she suffer as an "Executive Secretary" for the TWu International since the TWu AA membership suffered life changing concessions in 2003?

The exorbitant TWu International pay and benefits are a major point of contention with the membership, and a major reason (among many) why there is a drive to replace this unaccountable union as the AA M@R bargaining agent.

She wants a person to out themselves on this web site when we don't know if she is who she says she is. Why can't she post a picture of herself to proove it is her and not Jim Little posting? Were was she at that her husband had to call her at 1 AM? Why was her husband on this website at 1AM if he is not an employee or TWU member ? And it would be funny to see this show up in court and have a lawyer cross examine TWU int officiers and air all of their corrupt dirty laundry. I wonder how many TWU officiers would be prosecuted in a criminall court after the previous trial and sharing jail cells?

We are all anxiously awaiting a reply Ms. Borisuck.

I don't think she will come back and answer any questions truthfully afterall she is an exec sec for little jimmy. So she has learned to lie, spin and tell half truths from the best. At best she will have a TWU lawyer post for her.

Marlene,
As a fellow TWU member, I can opine that any TWU Member's opinion of you is protected in the following manner:

LMRDA
(2) FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND ASSEMBLY.-- Every member of any labor organization shall have the right to meet and assemble freely with other members; and to express any views, arguments, or opinions; and to express at meetings of the labor organization his views, upon candidates in an election of the labor organization or upon any business properly before the meeting, subject to the organization's established and reasonable rules pertaining to the conduct of meetings: Provided, That nothing herein shall be construed to impair the right of a labor organization to adopt and enforce reasonable rules as to the responsibility of every member toward the organization as an institution and to his refraining from conduct that would interfere with its performance of its legal or contractual obligations.

In my interpretation of the LMRDA:
1) you are a public figure given the requirement that your wages must be posted; and,
2) you claim that you are also a dues paying member of the TWU; and,
3) you have freely chosen to assemble in an electronic forum of TWU members to express any views, arguments or opinions.

I may, or may not, agree with anyone on this board with respect to your professional experience with the TWU: but don't come to a BB populated by AA TWU Members discussing the required filings before the DOL and somehow claim that you, as a fellow TWU Member, have been injured.

The act states that every member of any labor organization shall have the right to meet and assemble freely with other members: PROVE THAT THIS BB IS NOT AN ELECTRONIC MEETING HALL FOR TWU MEMBERS TO FREELY ASSEMBLE.

The act states that upon such assembly the membership shall be entitled to express any views, arguments or opinions: PROVE THAT THE OPINIONS YOU DO NOT LIKE ARE NOT THE FREELY EXCHANGED VIEWS, AURGUMENTS OR OPINIONS OF FELLOW TWU MEMBERS DURING SAID MEETING.

This is just one persons' opinion: I'm sure there are others.

I believe Informer has it right. It's issues like this that AMP should be capitalizing on. An international secretary that has gotten over a 45% percent raise since its members took massive pay cuts in 03' is simply unacceptable. As R. McDonald once said, " It's a bitter pill to swaller".

It's interesting that Ms. Borisuck has obviously posted on this bulletin board to apparently save her good name, her reputation and also to get some sympathy....but all seems to be backfiring and exploding in her face. I doubt she will be back to answer questions. There's a very angry group here with very valid questions. I can't imagine that she has any satisfactory or legitimate answers for them without digging a deeper hole for herself and the TWU.

It must be nice to sit at work reading and posting on the forums. But I guess this is how Jim measures are needs and wants. I liked the other guys idea that they pay you so well is that you know where all the bodys are. Personally I think I would be a little (no pun intendit) more upset with someone connecting me to that.

The Teamsters Head Hoffa made $294,285 , The IAM Head Buffenbarger made $284,985...What's your point except for causing hysteria on things that are taken out of context? Oh, I know you must be pushing another Union where someone else wants to make over $275,000. OK!

We're not falling for it, Jimmy "L"

GET A LOAD OF THIS!

Marlene,
Besides the 140k per year, are their any other perks, company car, credit card, ect. ?

After the TWU had to disclose its financial costs and salaries to the Department of Labor last week, a few interesting facts have come to light.

Marlene Borisuck (Jim Little’s secretary) earns $140,853.00
Francine Albach (Secretary) $116, 319.00
Frank McCann Jr (Director of Organising) $171,453.00 Son of a late TWU VP
Karen Avants (Secretary) $80,872.00 Daughter of retired TWU Intl VP
Robin and Tim Gillespie (Secretary and Staff Rep) total $173,132.00
Bernadette Uckele (Secretary) $116,319.00
Don Videtich (Staff Rep) $151,054.00
Robert Wechsler (Education Director) $176,220.00
Carlean Williams (Secretary) $122,161.00

The list goes on and on, to the tune of $6,000,000.00 and all the above are appointments and never appear on a ballot. It’s a family affair!
Fill out an AMP card now!

Not for nothing, but Hoffa has over 10 times the membership at close to 1.4 million, and Buffenbarger has over 5 times the membership.

For gross salary, Buffenbarger made $228,701 or 37 cents per a member. Hoffa made $294,285 or 21 cents per a member. Little made $249,065 or $2.10 per a member.

More shocking then the salaries is how they blew half of the stash in 9 years. Dropped from $60 million to $30 million.

PROVE THAT THIS BB IS NOT AN ELECTRONIC MEETING HALL FOR TWU MEMBERS TO FREELY ASSEMBLE.

Given that this BB open to the public (anyone can read it without a profile), an argument could be made that this isn't quite what the LMRDA had in mind as far as the whole meeting hall thing goes....

It's more like a really bad reality show taking place in an off-airport bar. And I need another beer...

For all you Christmas caroler's out there, the original lyrics to "Jingle Bells" are available for download at

Take a close look at the Grinch, is that a constipated Pat Sajak or Jimmy "L"?
