West Fa's working East routes.

What do they call you, ball of confusion? They are cutting back from the summer schedule in Hawaii. The long HNL and OGG trips are gone the week of August 19 and the long KOA returns. These are scheduled seasonal changes. So, you have your answer.
The East has been told that the West does not fly with pilots due to our longer hours. From what they said earlier, they wanted no part of turns or long days. Have they changed their minds? They better tell their negotiating committee because they are under the impression that the East will not work the West type schedules...and we on the West keep hearing that our turn days are going bye-bye...
Perhaps you all in the East should let your MEC's know that you want this type of flying. PHX shouldn't be the only base with this type of flying. Plus, there are only 13-14 turn lines per month, and there are a lot of mixed (3 and 4 leg turn days) trips in those lines. Still out of reach for most here as well...
Our MEC has lobbied Congress for safer duty times. We do not want this type of flying. Safety first!

How about this...for September, all the red-eyes to the West Coast have been taken away from PIT and PHL...not sure where they went. Haven't seen CLTs pairings yet.....
I have heard that you all get 5:10 a day so a red-eye pays 15:30 over on the West side, that's why CLT had triple the amount of red-eyes lately...we only get flight time plus maybe a little 1-3.5.
Most of our red-eyes that depart the East in the afternoon/evening pay only 11 or 12. Now they have disappeared at least in two bases....perhaps that and the reduction of Hawaii service is at the advice of the new consultants......All I can say is that every red eye I work West to East is PACKED.

727,

We don't have a 5:10 a day rig. Not sure where you heard that, but you were misinformed. Our pilots, on the other hand have 5:15 a day duty rig and any layovers 24 hrs or longer pay the 5:15 duty rig for that day. So a 4 day trip with only 3 days of actual flying as a result of a 24+ hr layover somewhere would pay the same as a 4 day trip with 4 days of flying. The company tries to get around this by scheduling 23:59 hr layovers.

I agree with you. And our poor reserves they treat so, so bad. Tags all the time, 6days in a row, and the schedulers are on a major power trip, and rarely nice! I wish we would go bk to flying with our pilots the whole trip. I think it is much safer. These pairings with 7dirty7's mixed with the airbus sux big time!!!!!

So as a non FA person - I can't even believe that you could complain about 22 days off a month!
I do not know, who has 22 days off. May be the very very senior person, who started in 1957. We routinly work 6 days in a row, 24 hrs of, at time duty day is scheduled :14.28 hrs (limit is 14.30).

Please, get your facts straight.

If you drop to 40, then you'd be flying eight days a month. Many on the East do this and it doesn't take 50 years.

Our most senior fa's on the West hold 22 days off. East coast turns 2times a wk. But that will be negotiated away I am sure. ;)

I'm not sure I understand this.....why would anybody B/H or RSV WANT 22 days off a month....that paycheck would be poverty level! Most people I fly with in PHL fly 100-105+ hours every month just to have a paycheck.....that includes Reserves who pick up trips from the ETB on their days off. It's not as easy as it used to be but for me and most people I'm sure....it's all about having a decent paycheck to bring home every month! I'm not sure what classifies senior on the East anymore but I fly with every range from most junior to most senior on T/A trips....and 85-90 percent of them are high time fliers!

I think WCT was talking about the Westies' coast-to-coast one-days that the East does not have.

 OIC, see what you miss when your posting! That would be absolutely incredible to be able to do that in the East.....and YES it would go VERY senior!

Two words: SUGAR DADDY.

I highly recommend it. Now, bring on the high time turns that work 8 days a month.

Not necessarily for the West F/A's. How many times a month would you need to do a one day PHX/LAS - East Coast round trip to get 100 hours?
