West Fa's working East routes.

Im just wondering?
You all on the east fly the whole time with your pilots, not over an 8 hour block, right??

So let me tell you how excited we are to have taken your routes??! NOT!!!

Try PHL-SFO-PHL, OR HOW BOUT SAN-CLT-SAN, OR PHL-LAS-CLT, OR PDX-PHL-PDX, PBI-CLT-PBI-CLT-LAS-PHX??? All in one 13+ hr duty day, and less money!!
And we get to change pilots every leg, how does that sound???
Just to give you an example of our schedules on the good ole West side! Ready to move to the PHX HUB now??!!

This might work fine as long as there is a crew base on both ends.

Last week a PHL-SAN flight was cancelled becasue the F/A's exceeded their duty day due to weather delays.

Since no F/A's were available, the flight was cancelled. An agent told me the cops had to come to quell the disturbed irate passengers.

Management may wish to rethink this strategy until East/West crews can fly each others metal. Not soon in coming, however.

Tempe should consider hiring their own in house police force, as this is becoming a common occurrence throughout the system...... I am sure the PHL airport police are enjoying the overtime, tho!

Read my post clearly. YES!! We do East coast turns! That is why our mgmt has given us a lot of your routes, and new ones out of PDX,(Portland) to the East markets. They can work us longer duty days, block up to 11 credits in one day, 14.30 duty! We have seniors working PHX-JFK-PHX roundtrips two times a week, and are off 22 days a month!

So as a non FA person - I can't even believe that you could complain about 22 days off a month!

I don't know why you're complaining. I'm a west FA and I love to have that high block time in one day it makes for a much more productive pairing for me. Doesn't bother me to change pilots, you meet more of them and some of them you don't like to fly with anyway, so it works very good :D I just bid a few trips that paid 20:00 credit for a 3 day, I fly a lot of turn days at at least 8-10 hours credit hrs credit and I usally pull in over 100 hours a month with at least 15 days off. Not bad. Here is some of what working over 8 hours block can get you.

PHX-MCO-PHX 8:28CR CHECK IN 0745 HOME AT 1830
PHX-PHL-PHX 10:17 CR CHECK IN AT 0756 HOME AT 2034 (LONG DAY)
PHX-JFK-PHX 10:37 CR
PHX-DCA-PHX 8:40 CR
PHX-TPA-PHX 8:40 CR
SOME THREE DAY TRIPS: 17:30 CR, 19:30 CR,
SOME FOUR DAY TRIPS: 27:00 CR.

I had a block of PHL-SJU turns that worked eleven days a month. Hated it.
Well let's look at where you started, where you took them to and where you ended up....that's flying from one trailer park to another on a big jet...but hey, you only had to do it 11 times. Plenty of time to shower and deodorize in between.... LOL !

Yes, this is why the senior people will go to PHX. They will work the 8 days a month and do the JFK turns. You betcha.
Sing along with me......
Carol Austin is negotiating for someone from an old PSA base......to come out to PHX to take your place.....
That woman is evil personified......however Mike Flores LOVES her...what a horrid combo.
Like a two week old Happy Meal.

It looked really good on paper. Actually commutable from DCA, two legs, AB330, lots of time off...in reality, this one day trip was EXHAUSTING and required a few days to recuperate. No thanks. A dream trip is the NAS turn. Leave at 0830 and back by 1430. No sweat.

How about the DCA-LGA turn this month...4:30 total duty time...5 hours total pay! BTW number 1 thru 3 worked it.

10 hours for a one day? I'd do that in a minute.. careful PHX keep singing the praises on the PHX trips, the sucking sound from the east will be a lot of senior US east heading west!! ;)

Do you really think this will be negotiated in the new single contract? Everything on the west side has way better flexibility. Not everything is seniority based. Our drop pickup is first come first serve, and so is our eletronic board. Plus we can post cash on the etb for insentive to get rid of them. The 22 days off our senior mamas hold, with east coast turns, are about 15 postions. The majority of our bid is two day back to backs, so fa's can drop there hours to 40. The next majority of trips are 4 days, followed by three days, and then one day trips/turns. All of our Hawaii's are three day trips and NO credit because of the long layover. Hopefully our union will still negotiate fences for our hubs. :p

OOPS!! It is the truth. Our schedule pairings sux big time. Work more, longer layovers, less days off too! The turn days are only the elite senior people in PHX, class 2,3,4-20 maybe. Our seniors are too concentrated with Hawaii! The company is cutting back on Hawaii starting in August. Wonder why???
What do they call you, ball of confusion? They are cutting back from the summer schedule in Hawaii. The long HNL and OGG trips are gone the week of August 19 and the long KOA returns. These are scheduled seasonal changes. So, you have your answer.
The East has been told that the West does not fly with pilots due to our longer hours. From what they said earlier, they wanted no part of turns or long days. Have they changed their minds? They better tell their negotiating committee because they are under the impression that the East will not work the West type schedules...and we on the West keep hearing that our turn days are going bye-bye...

You would need a minimum 40 years and a quad cane to hold that here in the East.
Perhaps you all in the East should let your MEC's know that you want this type of flying. PHX shouldn't be the only base with this type of flying. Plus, there are only 13-14 turn lines per month, and there are a lot of mixed (3 and 4 leg turn days) trips in those lines. Still out of reach for most here as well...
