Oh what a tangled web we weave.

"Ornstein, who worked with Siegel at Houston-based Continental Airlines in the 1990s and has vacationed with the Siegel family, said yesterday that he would be interested in the US Airways Express commuter operations, of which his company is already a code-sharing partner, as well as the coveted Washington-New York-Boston shuttle."

Mesa Air eyeballing US Airways

Phoenix-based carrier has an interest in commuter, East Coast shuttle operations

By Dan Fitzpatrick, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Phoenix airline Mesa Air Group is one of several carriers now interested in the assets of struggling Arlington, Va.-based US Airways, which is seeking buyers to raise much-needed cash.

Would the GOVT allow a three way buy-out in a form of something like this maybe?
AA buys the Shuttle, MESA (which stands for Make Everyone Suffer Sir, as a crew member told me) buys the express and Richard Branson gets some equipment.
I dont know if the govt would let it happen but this is my idea if it would fly but am not sure.

Ornstein and Dave were at Harvard together at the same time.

Wouldn't be surprised if its not more media hype and a plot to force U employees to the table. They probably devised this "hypothetical" to upset labor again.

If Dave sells of U, and U, in pieces, melts into other carriers, Dave won't work again, nor will he run another airline. Just the exact same fate as Lorenzo, only he'll be much poorer.

With regard to the "share value", we are more valuable as a whole than in pieces. And our Labor costs are almost in line with SW. U has already walked away from the PIT leases, which was once the biggest operating HUB of U.

What I find so schizophrenic, is one minute Dave is telling the media we are progressing, and the next Dave gets so afraid of SW and changes the "business plan", and all of a sudden U is NOT surviving or is a struggling carrier.

Un-friggen-believable.

I gotta agree. If they sell much of anything it'll probably mean that UAIR may as well just turn off the lights and shut the doors. UAIR already has so little to offer it's customers it's probably doomed already.

Oldie,

I have absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that we can "whip" SW butt in the PHL arena. New "Business Plan" or "No New Business Plan".

We just need Dave and team to follow where the employees' lead, and to keep their big mouths shut about assets and ATSB convenants and crap. And Bronner needs to take a very long cruise, out in the Netherlands, and walk off very short pier, blindfolded. and musseled. We'll rescue him later....maybe....if we can find him.

JO went to Penn and he didn't graduate. He never went to Harvard. They met at Coex. -Cape

Not sure if US is going to be whipping Southwest's butt as much as the weather situation will.

"Southwest 1417, Turn Left on Echo, Right on Echo Two, Cross Three-Five, Continue to Delta Two, Right on Delta, Cross Runway Two-Six, Left on Hotel, Right on Kilo, Left on Delta, and hold short of Two-Seven Right. Call us back, and we'll get you down Sierra to Two-Seven Left somehow....About Thirty minutes."

MESA AIRLINES OPERATING THE SHUTTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be worth seeing just for the entertainment value! They can barely get a Beechcraft out of the PIT E gates and they think they could provide hourly narrowbody service in one of the most heavily traveled corridors in the world? Yeah, those business passengers will sure be impressed with those Mesa flight attendants.

If U were to operate the Shuttle as a codeshare, it would have to be with RJs (why even bother), unless there was a scope adjustment. I dont see that happening.

For some reason its amusing to think of Little Dave and JO vacationing and shopping together. Maybe Don Carty and Steven Wolf join them, and its like Sex and the City but they talk about thier labor relationship problems while trying on a pair of Manolo Blahniks.

Bear in mind that Johnny O. will spend all kinds of money to keep U in business. If U ceases to operate, it's very bad news for Mesa.

Don't forget....Drinking Martinis(Instead of Cosmos) BECAUSE THEY CAN ACTUALLY AFFORD THEM !!!!

Hey Light.... How's the Sutter Home holding out.....

If Mesa operates the Shuttle with their so called Flight Attendants working the flights, it will do nothing more than drive U Shuttle pax over to the Delta Shuttle. That means Delta will have to bring back Comair for more supplimental Shuttle flying on RJ's like they did from Sept-Dec. At least the Comair Flight Attendants are very professional, and their uniforms could pass for an international carrier, unlike Mesa F/A's who trash our uniform. Shuttle passengers are not up for a 3 ring circus. Congrats Delta, you're getting everything you ever wanted from U.

BMIBabygirl, good to see you!
