Ratboy,
U, our airline, as we know it, will change. This mangement is getting ready to sell off to a LCC. Look around you folks. It 's real. You can either give it to them in a "silver platter" and hope the new carrier takes all the employees, with all of us at much much lower wages and benefit to "fit that glove", or you can fight to maintain our dignity and our professions for the rest of the Industry. ALPA MEC has already sold their souls to the devil himself.

If the IAM doesn't win the outsource grieveance, they are doomed here as a career. Managment has already begun the "show down".

You have guts, my friend. Thanks for giving us all a "heads up".

I am here for the count....I'm taking their reputations down with me.
PITBull,

This thought process reeks of emotion, and the eye-for-an-eye way of working through the myraid of issues before us.

IMHO, emotion and business are a bad mix, I am sad for the FA´s you speak for in bot PIT, as well as US Airways.

Get your emotions under control, and make your choices based on sound principals of critical thinking & decision making.

I do hold a level of respect for you, what you stand for, and your unmoving support of your group; however, this kind of crap only makes me sad for you....

FOR THE NON BELIEVERS, DOUTERS,AND ESPECIALLY,FOR THE ONE'S OF US WHO TRULY BELIEVED, AND WANTED THIS TO WORK OUT, WELL IN REAL LIFE THE GOOD GUY DOESN"T ALWAYS WIN.
If I UPSET ANYONE ,I APOLIGIZE ,I JUST THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD WANT TO HEAR IT FROM ONE OF A USAIR FAMILY MEMBER.
The planes are GONE (AS YOU WILL SHORTLY HEAR, and so are WE. I WISH this was just a b.s. rumor, but IT'S NOT. Open your EYES and LOOK around,I just had help, and was told WHERE to LOOK, AND AT WHAT TIME IT WAS COMING.
One last thing, this is our field, not their's, we have always BEEN AVIATION,AND WE WILL ALWAYS BE AVIATION. They come and go and they take their bags of gold and silver,(like the THEIVES that they are) BUT they can't take what we've earned thru-out are year in this FIELD. That we take with us to another carrier,WE ARE AVIATION, AND THAT we take with us There are good companys, out there who know, what we've gone THRU,and what we are truly WORTH. They are the companys that know that their BEST ASSETS are the PEOPLE THAT REPERSENT THEM. There is life AFTER USAIR,JUST OPEN YOUR EYES,AND I'M SURE YOU'LL KNOW WHERE TO LOOK.
I'T REALLY HURTS TO WRITE THIS, BUT I TRULY THOUGHT YOU WOULD WANT TO HEAR IT FROM A FRIEIND. GOOD LUCK TO ALL, WILL MEET UP AGAIN SOON
I'M SURE -----JUST LOOK------SEE YA -----BYE

thanks for the info on the RVSM requirements. I had heard that it was an expensive mod, and with the lap skin joint repairs that had to be made on some of the 737's, it was going to be money that U would rather not spend if they had the choice.

do you know how much it costs per bird?

Thanks again.

They fixed two A/C, “I believeâ€￾ and are checking the others at 200-hour intervals, and probably won't even repair them because it's acceptable damage that’s being monitored.

Use Your Head,

You can take your logic and place it...... where the sun doesn't shine brightly. You will not get the flight attendants to save your sad and sorry butt. Get your own group to do that for ya. We will NOT come to work every day 365 days a year to grow poorer and mount up debt working here, while the elite grow richer.... f/as will decide what the job is worth NOT YOU OR I.

Edited by PITbull to be nice...

US didnt sell any aircraft to anyone. Stop BSing these poor people RATBOY. US cant afford to have 50 AC of the property all at once, not because of the 279 min but because they will have to cancel hundreds of flights a day which will hurt them deeply. Dont tell me theres 50-60 Airbii waiting to be put in place of the 737-3/400s. when u post things think about it first and dont say Im in the family too and it hurts and all the jibberish. Why would they sell the 737s or give thier leases to FEdEX when its gonna cost more to fill those vacancies with Airbii??

All,

As of today at 19:30Z our (UAIR) Dispatch system shows the following count:

B737-300 70 active tail numbers

B737-400 46 active tail numbers with one AC(482) unassigned in PIT.

So if this rumor is to be the end of our 737 flying, where are the rest of the aircraft going? My count shows 117 airframes. Yet this rumor talks about 50 then 35 more. 85 from 117 leaves 32. The math does not add-up. Beyond the aircraft, what about the flight crews? Is someone going to bring forward news that ALPA has put its blessing on a wet-lease type transfer of 737 pilots to Fed-Ex?? Since Fed-Ex has no use for flight attendants, is the AFA going to stand idly by while a good third(rough estimate on my part) of there remaining ranks are cut loose?? I must admit that I've gotten a really good laugh from this rumor, but aside from its entertainment value, I find that it has no merit

USPerfEngr,

Hope you are correct. We had no idea that managment was planning to pay down the ATSB loan by using cash that they said they couldn't afford to use, not even to hedge more fuel. We do know they are trying to raise cash, so who knows... This manangement is capable of any kind of manuevering regardless of who it may hurt. Labor is just collateral damage to any "plan" they have, and they surely have a history of breaking contract language on a whim.. That is why we as labor are so quick to believe the worst. We'll see this week what gets announced.

Its good to see some facts here instead of ridiculous.....but amusing rumours. RATBOY do us a favor and go back to being the rat you are somewhere else.

Be careful with this rat thing, Kevin is watching you. :p

If the roumor is true (and as long as no one comes out oficially to say so it is only a roumor), US is making a smart move. Getting rid of one fleet and concentrate to fly only A319/320/321. Same cockpit crew can fly all three types and they will be more flexiable to move aircrafts around as demand might shift. Just because the B737 will be retired from US it does not mean that the airline is going to fly less aircrafts. As it was mentioned, some parked A320/129 will be back in the air. Operating the Airbus is more economical for US and will save at the end money and jobs.
