US/UA Merger Master Thread

Look for an announcement in the coming weeks, but prepare yourself for change. The money can be run through pretty fast at higher fuel prices.

LOL..no kidding,...we all know UA is going ghetto...why do you think CO jilted them?

But no one does ghetto better than Tempe and Tempe's minions.

If this goes through and that is a big if- the UAL people will have an influence on what this truly "Global carrier of choice" will look like.

US and HP will be in the big leagues then and I think we will be expected to rise up to that level.

DP has a chance at the big time. If we manage to get there with him we will be indeed be lucky (because of him or in spite of him).

Very true. I think what will be telling is who follows him over there. You already are hearing Scooter is going which is scary enough. But, if you hear Travis Christ and SS are going, be afraid, be very very afraid.

What I wonder about is, what the UAL people who actually run things are thinking (just like Tempe).

It must be a scary feeling for all who are office bound.

It seems that would be the first to fall (one way or the other) ala CCY. Nothing meant maliciously, but it does seem to start in HQ first and the rest of us later.

I'm sorry, but either you've got it or you don't. It is something that cannot be learned. You can take the boy out of the bar, but you can't take the bar out of the boy. Or you can take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl. Doug Parker and his elk are not made of what it takes to lead a combined world class global airline. It takes a certain caliber of individual who possesses a certain style, class, charisma, and worldliness. It takes a leader willing to set the vision, communicate that vision across all layers of the organization, and then create strategies and policies for ensuring that the vision is executed flawlessly across all levels.

I am holding out hope that if a merger agreement does come to pass, that the UAL BOD will tap someone like Ed Bastian, the former COO of Delta. There is a man with class, finesse, and vision. You can be rest assured that if Parker and Company are tapped, there will be heated opposition from UAL labor groups to thwart this merger.

just want to know???
do you ever work??
are you retired???
why do you spend so much time here??

just want to know as I am pondering/???? LOL

BB, regardless of any/all HUGE differences I've had/have with him on given opinions, has the proper distinction of having flown a full career, without accident/incident, and qualifies as honorably retired thereby. That "full career" part takes many, many thousands of hours, in all kinds of "fun" conditions, and is fully worthy of respect....even if I'll often rag him over the "opinions" issues..being but a very few years his "junior" ;)

As much as I agree with your posts you or I probably have very little say in the matter.

We(US/HP) are probably likely to be exposed, in a good way, to how things are done at UAL-which I look forward to, however the current management at UAL has seemed to squander the cache of UAL (we have very little to emphasize for ourselves).

You may find that there are willing people to meet your expectations.

If I read you correctly you are concerned about ITL travel and there are many on this side who would look forward to a return of the "Division" or the BA, days.

I am prett confident that HQ will move to Chicago, but not all operations at HQ in Tempe are going to be affected by this. The Roots of the corporate culture are planted in Tempe/Phoenix and have been for many years. Doug will do whatever he can to impact Tempe and jobs as little as possible.

Sigh...for the first thing to properly note = "Doug"/Mr. Parker...is NOT any inherently great, personal friend of yours...despite the given "scam" of the "first-name-basis" that you, and so many, many others, have so easilly, and competely stupidly, "bought into". If a merger does indeed occur..."Doug" will IMMEDIATELY be putting MANY, MANY millions into his personal accounts...and YOU..will be left wondering.."What happened?"..."Don't they love us/me?" .."sniffle..but, but..they promised that they CARED!" .."and..he/they seemed "so sincere" in all those meetings!?"= Sorry/ NO; That is NOT the actual nature of business...period. I'll hope that if, this "merger"/whatever occurs..that not too many thousands will be put on the street..as that's about the best I can honestly hope for. For anyone to assume that Tempe's somehow "magically exempt" from the effects...is right up there with crying/fighting for the use of "Cactus" as a callsign...which, I'm sure..UAL would also be "fine" with....

Good luck to us all.
