US Airways Strained by Pilot Safety Drive

It is hard to sit by and hear the West pilots claim that the pilots are in a slow down when much of it is legit delays, out of the pilot's control.

So is hearing how none of it is the pilot's fault and claiming that 0.4% of flights is proof of that. Watch the latest crew news - especially the 330 pilot asking not about wondering if the plane will make it across the pond, or even delays, but talking about more MEL's than in past years. Then pay particular attention to the response, where it's admitted that US was behind on the TA fleet maintenance at the start of the season.

You guys are doing nothing right.
Actually, in major non-hub (but should be) I had to explain to ATC (several are my friends) in the tower why call signs less than 700 are expected to act like assholes. I was called by controllers who used to handle PSA, play golf with us and could not understand the dysfunctional A&W way of doing business. The term, scabs, got their attention in a way I did not expect. Wow! They really hate scabs.

The agents in said hub are very cautious around segments involving call signs of less than 700. They consider them, ah, problem children, at best. And the agents are former A&W people.

and, that is just one "destination".

Just the constant, repetitive - European. We get it, you like long cross countries, going to bed real early (HDT) and chatting withg the Customs people. You'll never see me envying that type of flying.
You will never be "senior" enough to enjoy it, so, I can appreciate why you would discount it. Have a good day. Though it does seem really pathetic.

I'm sure there's sympathy from the west 757 pilots. You gotta wonder how airlines like TWA kept their antique fleet in the air.

While I understand your comment in the context of the sub-standard maintenance exhibited by Mesa Grande, I can interject that a well-motivated maintenance group can keep any "antique" fleet in the air, legally and easily Unlike the tempe freaks who encourage lying and forgery to "keep their fleet flying" with minimal mx.

So you're saying that the east mechanics aren't motivated, lie and forge documents. They'll definitely be unhappy with you.

So are you saying that you never had 3hr MX delays or cancellations prior to May 1st? If you did have these kinds of delays they are already accounted for in the data management presented to judge Conrad. ... I don't buy it and odds are quite good judge Conrad didn't buy it either.
If the wise judge didn't buy it, the injunction would be here, now.
Cheers.

If the judge didn't buy it he would have denied the injunction before now...

Jim
It should be very interesting to see how the judge tells the guys to:
- taxi faster
- not call in sick
- fly fatigued
- not write up aircraft discrepancies

Very interesting.
Cheers.

The judge won't tell the pilots anything. If the injunction is issued, it'll be up to USAPA to do everything in it's power to stop any pilot from intentionally slowing the operation. As you can see from the data in Lee's report, the company is capable of picking out the worst offenders and making examples of them.
