US Airways' List of Outside Safety & Safety Culture Accolades Growing

I lost all respect for Sullenberger when he took the witness stand and perjured himself in an effort to assist the East in the theft of West pilot careers. Did the "flawed safety culture" put a flock of geese in the flight path? Was it the "flawed safety culture" that allowed every single pilot that reenacted the scenario in a Simulator to safely land back at LGA?

Sullenberger should count his blessings that NTSB and the FAA would rather have the face of a "hero" than to publicly dissect that facts of 1549.

I am proud to call Sully a friend and for you to continually insult him on this board is sickening, Sully doesn't need me or anyone else to defend him but your lies and insults about him have just gone too far.
If you had an ounce of self respect you would get off this web board and worry about your own conduct!

Betty's been slinging cokes since Allegheny was flying Convairs, but that doesn't make her the best stewardess on the planet.
But unlike Betty, Doug doesn't have a collective bargaining agent protecting his job. If he doesn't perform within the expectations and to the satisfaction of the BOD/Shareholders then he is quite easily removed. So unlike a job where tenure = impossible to terminate, Doug's longevity means little to nothing if he isn't getting the job done today. So, the fact that Betty has been around for decades says far less about Betty's current performance whereas the fact that Doug is the longest currently serving CEO means that he has ten years, or forty financial quarters, where he has in fact met BOD/Shareholder expectations. There's no telling when Doug will step down as CEO, but there sure aren't any signs of it happening anytime soon.

That's an interesting aspect of American Business. It' far easier to fire a CEO than it is to fire a ramp agent in a union shop.

Getting through to him is like mating elephants.
It's done on a very high level.
There's a lot of stomping and screaming involved.
And it takes two years to get any results.

I found this video of the loose cannon and the day management turned him loose on the pilot group. B)

US Airways Among World's Top 10 Safest Airlines

A report by the Air Transport Rating Agency (ATRA), released yesterday, named US Airways among the world’s top 10 safest airlines. Airlines were chosen based on 15 criteria based from publicly available information that was examined by the ATRA. The agency explained, “to understand airline safety, one needed not only to look at accident figures, but also ’technical, human, organizational and external’ elements.” For more information and to see a complete list of airlines, ranked in alphabetical order, visit the ATRA website. Congrats to my fellow employees!

The case is that USAPA did nothing to stop the alleged slow down after the company notified them on several occasions of what was going on.
I don't think you are right about that. I did get a message from the union saying not to participate in any illegal job action. I should think that would be sufficient. It is sort of like the seat belt sign is on and mavbe 5 or 6 announcements have been made telling pax to stay in their seats and some get up. I don't expect the f/a's to tuff cuff the non-compliant pax nor do I expect the union to do anything more than to say don't do something illegal.

Tine will tell...but that are hundreds who fly with the "Im on boards" who know differently! Who overheard the pre paid cell phone calls in the flight deck and saw text messages! Bottom line .....perjury charges will be filed for those who lied on the stand! Take that to the bank!

I've been "on board" for over 38 years. As for the cell calls.... where did they come from? Did they have usapa's number? It could be some loose cannon from the east or it could be someone from the west, for that matter it could be you. It could even be someone from management. Why don't you post your name like I do? I have no problem with anybody knowing who I am and what I post or what I do in the aircraft. Come on, man up tell us who you are.

Bob

Great observation. This "outsider" was wondering the same thing.
I wanted to talk to Sully during a trip to the sim and asked where his office was and I got the thousand yard stare and the reply that there is no office. It was a publicity stunt by the company and I guess Sully figured it out.
