U Express Door Falls Off In Flight

I'm surprised that it was reported that a DO328 cargo door opened up after takeoff. I'm my experience, the DH8 (doesn't matter if it's a 100, 200 or 300) usually is the victim of cargo door malfunctions. The track system on the DH8 is very rudimentary and easy to screw up. The door moves vertically on the track, while the DO328 door comes out from the fuselage and swings to the back.

I'm also surprised that Express has a Dornier flying to ABE. I thought Dash 8's did that station along with the occasional ERJ-145.

As a pilot for PSA I find it amusing that so many members of this board don't know what a Do 328 is and which Express Carriers operate them. Your airline is getting turned into/taken over by express and you have no idea what express is or the type of people that work here. When I read this complete ignorance I no longer feel bad that we at express are taking over the flying at U. U employees have been asleep at the wheel for so long and now the bus is heading off the cliff.
Geez! What a grown-up response! Out of high school yet Cap'n?

The cargo door did not come off. In fact the main cabin door did not come off. It came open. Yikes!!??!! for all involved. Investigation is ongoing.

It was not the cargo door, it was the cabin entry door. See it for yourselves in the link from the posts above.

Robbed,

The new FAA weights after the CLT accident has really hurt the Dornier, which is why we are always up against the numbers on weight. Basically turned the airplane from 32 seats to 29. Which is another reason for not taking the tanker fuel. There is also only 1600# difference between max takeoff weight and landing weight. So if its a short trip, then we have our capabilities cut even further.
