TWU vs. AMP Debate forum

Bob Owens and any other TWU officer can not be on the debate defending the A.M.P. side. This is obvious folks.
The TWU will waste no time removing them from office for dual unionism. Bob Owens is doing a good job defending our profession from the TWU's side as an officer of the Union. We all know were he stands.

Oh that's right Bob pledge his allegiance to James C Little and the TWU.

I heard one TWU Officer (Ken MacTiernan) already resigned to assist in helping the profession rid of the TWU.

I notice he is alone.

I know Bob well enough to know those shackles are a major pain.

Informer,

Yes, I resigned effective immediately 8/12/10. I very much enjoyed being the E-Board for Title 1 in Local 565. However, so there would be no perception of "conflict of interest" I stepped down. I will of course continue to assist my LOCAL in helping the membership here however possible.

AMP is democratic from the top down. Accountability and membership control is foreign to the twu. I did not resign so others could too. There are many good people in office throughout the system trying to do the best for our craft and profession. Informer is correct shackles are a pain.

GO AMP!

As a matter of fact, I have had a TWU supporter contact me directly to put his hat in the ring to speak for TWU. Anyone who knows the AMP position and proposed Constitution and By-Laws well enough is free to step forward.

I'm in the process of developing some guidelines for the posters. For instance, start making it personal and Yerrrr OUT! I want to see a debate on the issues. What is the position of TWU on such and such an issue vs. what is the proposed position of AMP on that issue.

I would like to see the two posters decide upon a "schedule" of issues to debate. That way they don't have to talk about everything everyday. Just concentrate on one issue at a time. That way if either one needs to do a little research on the issue, they can call time out for a day or two.

Has anyone of you actually asked Bob if he can or can not represent the AMP side? If he is currently a TWU officer--whether local or International--I would guess debating for AMP might be a problem for him.

Keep me posted. I think this could be a very rewarding venture for all of us.

Well I havent read their Constitution or had anything to do with organizing the AMP so that and the fact that I am an elected official in the TWU would preclude me from being a spokesman for AMP if I had been asked, which I was not.

I respect the members rights to try and form a new union, considering the job we have done so far its perfectly understandable.

The people I work for at Local 562 have entrusted me with a job and while the majority probably will (or have) sign cards for AMP, I havent receieved any requests from them to drop what I set out to do.

Accountability , transparancy, were the two main issues that I promised I would try to improve. I'm still trying to deliver. There's no doubt in my mind that the TWU at AA is one extremely dysfunctional union, our nosediving standard of living and this TA is proof of that, and fixing it is a formidable undertaking, but its what I set out to do, will I have any more luck than those who came before me? Who knows, but thats why my coworkers allowed me to be here, if they ask me to abandon those goals I will, but until that happens I will continue as if I never heard of AMP. I will continue to point out our flaws and offer solutions and I will not lie to defend those who will not do what needs to be done and stand in the way of fixing this union.

I believe Jim was right the TWU will either evolve or dissolve.

Over 2,000 members in Tulsa thought that the T/A should not have even been brought back.

Bob:

Dysfunctional is a relative state insofar as it applies to the TWU - it seems to work rather nicely with regard to enriching its International officers and affording them their posh standard of living at our expense.

No vote on insulting TA - check.
Card signed returned to AMP - check
As was said on 11 September, 2001 - "Let's Roll".

Is it too early to begin taking bets re: how loud the "wailing and gnashing of teeth" will become when enough cards are collected to call for an election?

I know aapitbull, as one of the AMP constitution crafters, is perfectly capable of a rousing debate. I witnessed it many times in the past. I know it will require sacrificing their time but I hope he or another capable person(s) will step forward. There's no doubt that the TWU will be tag teaming the issues with a singular spokesman. I hope AMP will do the same.

Forgive me, I have been busy plotting the end to the twu and have not logged in for a couple of days, if they truely want to debate constitutions then consider this my answer anytime anyplace. The most interesting part about this is they must be concerned to belly up to the bar this early in the drive.

Having someone from the Steering Committee is the best idea yet.

aapitbull is wihtout a doubt capable and has accepted the challenge.

Do we have to notify Ralph?
