Do you guys really think the traveling public has any sympathy? Usually passengers are not supportive of striking workers as they have the potential to both disrupt travel and prevent then from getting the cheapest fare possible. Of course, the unionists spin the public booking on other carriers in the event of a strike as "solidarity" when in reality most people couldn't care less and only want to get to their destination without disruption.

I was in MIA a couple of years ago when APFA did Pax4Pax and they didn't have too many interested passengers-people were more focused on making their connections or getting home.

Are the pilots going to join in with signs saying "Today should be a paid holiday for us!"????

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

TWU agreed to a T/A agreement with management that members would not accept.
Have not even exchanged financial proposals trying to remedy. Unless thay are telling lies again.
And now they are going to go demonstrate and degrade the Airline and the Management in public the week before finanical negotiations might be exchanged?

WTF?

Something does add up here! Or is this typical TWU Ingorance?

I guess if you can't get it done at the table then taking your plight to public might have been a good strategy 50 years ago. But I agree with others here. This is a waste of time and does nothing to help get an agreement. All it does it anger management and let the some get #### off their chest by venting. FOOLS!

With the Superbowl in Dallas this is a perfect opportunity to let the travelling public know that all is not well with AA. When the inevitable happens and we shut the place down no one can say that their Holidays were ruined, or they couldnt get to their Grandmothers funeral because of the workers. If you know there is trouble brewing then you find an alternate way to get where you want to go. For three years the company has stalled negotiations. As work groups asked to be released the company pleaded with the NMB to not release the workers, and the NMB has complied. The NMB bullied the Fleet guys to accept an inferior TA and their Presidents rightfully decided not to bring it back. The NMB and the company have refused to meet with the Union since. In any other country in the Free World these workers would have been permitted to strike but in our facist state the government can dictate whether or not workers can withhold their labor.

Bob, unless they haved refused to pick up a newspaper or turn on the tv in the last 3 years, they already know. Guess what? They don't care. And yes, they will blame you or me or whoever goes out on strike and disrupts their plans.

On the few flights that get out of DFW today, I'm quite sure that the f/as will be held personally responsible for the weather and the delays/cancellations of the past two days. You are the closest target. Therefore you are responsible for everything that has gone wrong in my life for the past 5 years.

I may be wrong, but aren't the typical Superbowl attendees more representative of the privileged class than the working class? Yes, working stiffs like me watch NFL games on TV, but I'm not a high-roller spending thousands of dollars to fly to DFW to attend the Superbowl. Will the demonstration on Monday morning reach the intended audience or will the executives and business owners (the typical big-spender at the Superbowl) ignore the workers? I just don't think the crowd at DFW on Monday morning is gonna be all that sympathetic to the cause. Might as well picket outside the big country clubs - probably reach the same audience.

Sometimes you appear to me to live in a dream world Bob. A 30 day cooling off period is the time to give advanced notice to the flying public that they need to make alternate plans. You pretend as if a shut down is soon on the horizon and you know that is not the case. So you claim to be protecting the traveling public from something that would be against the law, and the fact is the TWU and the AFL-CIO will never break the law and you know it. Even if you stood out there and notified for the next 3 months, when it happens, the traveling public will still blame the workers and you are not going to change that, period. Other Countries are not "permitted" to strike so to speak, those workers take it upon themselves and are unified so there is nothing their Gov't can do to stop it if they wanted to. The AFL-CIO and the TWU have no such courage and therefore resort to puss and boots informational picketing as if that is going to change anything. People going to the Super Bowl would like to go have a good time without a bunch of cowardice union members begging them for assistance. Wouldn't suprise if they spat in your faces while you take advantage of them arriving in large numbers to have a good time. Time to call BS on this form of Unionism because that is all it amounts to is BS. Whimpering to the passengers about Management Bonuses is not going to change a damn thing with the NMB or the company, and all your going to do is bother and waste the time of folks trying to have an enoyable weekend. Might be a little press about the conduct but even that wont be shown in a positive light. How many times must the same stupid inneffective action be taken?

Exactly

Dissagree,I think that the flying public needs to be made aware that we are working at reduced pay,
and havent had a raise in 8 years! while management recieves bonuses every year.
Also let them know Mr. Staubach is on AMRs BOD

Assuming you're correct that the "flying public" needs to be made aware of your plight, my point is that this coming Monday morning at DFW the crowd is gonna look a lot like the chamber of commerce - not the people who are sympathetic to downtrodden union working men and women. Many of the attendees sit on boards of directors and own their own businesses and probably applaud when union men and women take it on the chin.

They may or may not be sympathetic, but those who can travel to such an event may have company's or jobs that do depend on AA. For example, an executive Plat or Key member may worry that his big meeting in Mexico City may be in jeperdy and may have several clients flying in from NRT,LHR,JFK,DUX and he will book else where. Exutive Plat, and key's members will call Arpey and ask him what's going on and tell him they will book else where, as soon as booking go down from the ones who count....
