TWU and the Company reached a Tentative Agreement

7-11-12

In keeping with the transparency (and accountability) that was promised to the membership, here is the voting breakdown of the most-recent round of the Maintenance and Related concessionary bankruptcy negotiations.

Motion: "A recommendation to take the company's Last Best Offer and put it out for a vote." Also, with a roll-call vote

Motion made by Charlie Meyer (STL Local 529). Seconded by Robert Todd (SFO Local 505).

I thought DTW was closed, and how many members does Charlie Meyers represent?

A little off topic maybe but does anyone know if AMFA allows roll call voting?
Luckily this roll call vote isn't the final word on the TA and the members whose Presidents voted yes will see the light.

Vote NO!!
AMFA NOW!!

Let me verify something here. So with roll call voting, as per the exampled used, 20 comte individuals could in fact vote for the entire membership?? Oh HELL NO. Say this is not so. Oh my god, this is right up there with J. Little pulling the "no need for membership to vote" action he took in early 90's and again in 03, I believe.

To answer your question (if it hasn't been answered as of yet) AMFA has no such thing as a roll call. The membership in it's entirely votes on any changes to anything. Nobody can enforce any kind of change upon the membership (not even at the AMFA National level, including our top dog AMFA National Director) wow this is new to me. No wonder the AA management works so hard or close with the TWU. You guys need change now, bring AMFA in you will be overwhelmed by the differences.

So line station Presidents called for the vote & several Line station Presidents voted yes so looks like the Line stations aren't unified for a NO VOTE this time, Like a said it's the members that make up a Union if they aren't willing to fight for a decent contract then it doesn't matter what Union we have, that's a lot of President's caving into this junk contract.

The TWU know's they only need 565 more votes than last time to pass this offer, doesn't look good with that many line Presidents voting to bring the offer back to us for a Membership vote. UGH

VOTE NO AGAIN

Vote NO!!
AMFA NOW!!

BTW: Forgot to add; with AMFA your pres that all voted yes could be removed from their positions very easily with AMFA. If you guys had AMFA they would be worried about this every time a vote came up and would lean more towards what the membership would want rather than caving into what the company wants. With AMFA there is accountability to the actions of all officers or anyone holding any position in AMFA. You cannot do this with the TWU.

VOTE NO AGAIN
Its in the works, and were these clowns that were flown in for the vote involved in the whole process of negotiations or were they just used as tools for the international?

Sure you can the guy who agreed to it was John Hewitt & Local 514 Elections are coming up soon, there was a roll call vote so Hewitt carried all of Local 514 membership.
Very soon we will be able to elect all new Local 514 Officers, hopefully next time we will elect an A&P Mechanic

With AMFA your local officers are all A&P mechs. Also with AMFA your officers could be removed prior to any officer elections. They can be removed right in the middle of their term, even one week after they were voted in if it were to arise. This is a mechanics union for mechanics. A&P's working for A&P's.

AMFA represents more than A&P Mechanics, all of Mechanic craft & class would be represented which includes aircraft cleaners, parts washers etc. so an Aircraft cleaner could be Elected as a Local President not just A&P Mechanics, show me in writing where it says ONLY A&P Mechanics can be President.

Sorry Big Mac - got it from a reliable source.
My bad V. It shouldn't have been a surprise given TWU's track record. I've signed so many cards to rid ourselves of the TWU it's getting monotonous. Are members/co-workers blind, scared or just ignorant? Feel as if we (AA'rs) are under third world country tyranny by our own representatives. It's frustrating and quite frankly sickening!

Whoa !! Line station president's called for the roll call vote. Apparently all the line stations aren't on board with a NO vote. !!

Line Station Presidents with integrity and a spine
voted No to bring this back. Those who voted yes
wish to grovel on their knees and attempt to further
ruin our craft.

This t/a will fail just like the last one failed.

Vote No!
Vote AMFA!

Count the numbers. Whether it was a roll call vote or a simple majority vote (9 Yes - 7 No) it passed. The NO's lost, what don't you understand about that? Quit whining, you're starting to sound like a bunch of teenagers.

If the dozen or two AMFA guys, or the AMP & Vote NO Crowd (AMFA in drag) stopped posting on this site, what would we have to talk about, not much, although it is entertaining.

Similar to electoral college votes. It is not Democratic.

How is a plurality or simple majority not Democratic?...

Shocking as it may seem, use of the role call vote is a perfect example of parliamentary democracy.
