Tulsa's AMT's can make things better

I expected some of the amfa promises to be kept. We were not able to bring the airline to their knees as amfa said. We were not able to stand up to the courts by being in a single craft union as amfa said. We were not able to deliver complete public support as aviation professionals as amfa said. We were not able to stay ahead of the weaker industrial unions as amfa said.

Nothing amfa said during the campaign helped us in the least. Their constitution and operating methods only offered more chances for members to turn on members. We forgot who we were fighting and began fighting ourselves.

I expected what you expected. Real power in a mechanics only union. What I experienced was Something Completely Different.

Again, the obvious, which you seem intent on ignoring....WE WERE IN BANKRUPTCY.

Your critiques ring hollow to those discerning enough to employ a modicum of common sense.

You keep claiming the "vast" majority are happy with the Teamsters and it is numerically impossible.
There are no AMT's that could come close to being the "majority" or the "vast majority" in the Teamsters structure.
you lie

.013% for starters in the M&R ranks. Is that too low? Just thinking (ROLMFAO) out loud.

Does it really make a difference if you work in Overhaul or at a line station? The point should be that for 50 yrs now the TWU here at AA has not looked out for the mechnaics. The TWU has taken our dues and done nothing for us. We all have lost money,vacation,holidays,sickpay, and now our pension and retirerment medical. The bickering between O/H and the line needs to stop. AA is the only carrier that still has in house maintenance, how much longer do you all think that is going to remain? Are you willing to come out to the line? OR even start over at another carrier? Doing that we start at the bottom again. No matter how many yrs working in the industry we start at the bottom. If we, all the mechnics belonged to the same craft union, we could keep the money we have earned because of our time in the industry. The industrial union thinking of the past no longer applies, strength in numbers is a joke, it only holds US the mechanics of the airlines back.. We work for a Legacy carrier, Not able to invoke self help. The PEB will force us back to work since the leaders of the unions have lost contact with what is important. The ramp/stores and other factions of the TWU have held our wage earning potential back.

Its time to belong to a Union that wants to look out for US. No more do we need to carry the TWU.

TWU = Bus drivers
IBT = Truck drivers
AMFA = Mechnics

What union is the only one in the airline industry that does NOT represent the ramp?

It does not matter what union they belong too if your a true union guy if they setup a picket line we should not cross it. Union memebers backing other union memebers. So lets get ourself a Union That is setup to look out for US. I also read here that UAL/DAL/SWA/JETBLUE are our compeditors NOT true maybe the companies are competeing for passangers, but we all the mechanics of the industry should stand together.

We are now stuck with another 6yrs of a TWU contract but we don't have to be stuck with thier leadership.

Sign an AMFA card and lets move on.

And yet the doors to amfa are still closed at UAL. Why is that?

Great speech. Too bad you didn't use it for the SWA amfa mechanics who were busy throwing their fellow AMT's from Air Tran under the bus.

Not trying to be a complete ass, I do agree with much of your post, as I have been in the same position as you. At UA, I too worked on the line which supported amfa heavily while the base held us back for most years. I felt like you, and do still. It seems to be a mindset that we are against one another for foolish reasons.

Also I find it interesting that you state the union has done nothing for you, yet you admit that AA is the only carrier that still has in house maintenance, how much longer do you all think that is going to remain? If I read it right, are you claiming that the sacrifices you have made, "money,vacation,holidays,sickpay, and now our pension and retirerment medical" is what kept maintenance in house?

Just a point, and not meaning to be argumentative; at UA, we lost all that too, after they took the work and sent it to vendors.

I do have another question for you regarding one of your statements. If we, all the mechnics belonged to the same craft union, we could keep the money we have earned because of our time in the industry. What do you mean by this?

I appreciate your post, and your view.

Because seniority integration is not complete.
Get that done and watch the door open.

Come on now....

Are you welding crystal balls in that shop of yours? Can your flaming torch really give you powers of observation even at other airlines?

You should give up your welding certificate for a full time job as a political spinster. You are really quite good.

Now your being childish

Did you just crawl out from under the rock?

The AMFA idea is all mechanics in one union, then negotiate experience recognition clauses so the AMT can move from carrier to carrier and be paid based on his industry experience instead of suffering the industrial union low starting pay and lengthy progession to top pay.

Everytime the truth is spoken, you resort to personal attacks on individuals and skills.

Keep it up, I print these out and convert non-A&P Teamster supporters to AMFA supporters using you as my organizer.

One day I will show you my anomaly book that gets cards signed daily.

I would hope that if we all (the Airline mechnics) became organized under one union we could switch from carrier to carrier and maintain the top of the wage rate we are at. Unless you have not worked anyother place than AA you won't have a clue as to starting over bottom of the pay scale while other just starting out amke more.
That is what the craft unions have. Are the things we gave up worth the final prize, of keeping maintenance in house No.... it going to happen that AA will farm out all the work so all we gave up set us here at AA back 15-20 yrs.

The Airtran AMT's elected to go with AMFA and the way the merger would take place they got a better deal with AMFA.

ASK THEM IF YOU BELIEVE DIFFERENT>>>>>>
