Tulsa

When AA starts outsourcing and downsizing TUL, the line stations will finally have the majority. How long before a new union drive will start? I'm in favor of whoever negotiated the SWA and UAL contract, I believe that union is the IBT, even though AMFA represents SWA now. 25 years with the TWU can all be summed up to "if you don't like it, move to Tulsa". If I were the TWU I would be trying to figure out how I'm going to get $40 an hour for my line mechs.

If you think the ibt is better than the twu, you really haven't been paying attention.

So you are saying that the IBT is bad?

Worse than the TWU?

What about the IBT's politically, do they make you fund the Democratic Party?
Did you forget it's illegal for unions to contribute to politics?

I'm just going by what the members are being paid. I don't care who represents us as long as they can get a industry leading contract like the TWU did for us in 2001. If the TWU can produce that again, I would be OK with the TWU, at least I won't have "If you don't like it move to Tulsa" thought process with the majority.

Unions always support the democrats just like the majority of the wall street political contributions goes to the republicans. That is why Rep. Cantor (R) stripped lobbying rules.

Yes AMFA got the NWA mechs a great contract, but the TWU did get a better contract and without giving into outsourcing some OH maint. It took BK for the TWU to lose Outsourcing.

Back in the layoff of 2003 the company was allowed by the to get rid of the 12,500 for most of the mechanics affected by the RIF and the layoff list was redone to accommodate Tulsa!!!! I never head many people complain because it involved junior seniority. The union whistled a happy tune because Tulsa and their dues cash cow was taken care of. The president was set then when it should have never been allowed to happen. The company was allowed to break the rules then and now will use that very act to say we did it once and we need to do that again. I got mine may come back to haunt us as we got ours because we were stupid.

hey TWU lover, WN mechanics make $45/hr with outsourced OH......you think the TWU will out do AMFA this time around???? You think Little will try and get US $45/hr on the Line?????? You can't possibly believe that AA is going to pay our gems $45/hr, do you???? Because, I don't!! I see just the opposite happening, the TWU will take more from the remaining amt's......you & me, to keep jobs in TUL.

AA will emerge from BK a powerhouse.......line amt wages lower, OH wages lower, thus placing enormous pressure on WN to start lowering their costs, i.e. "mechanic wages at WN will eventually come down to AA wages", instead of the other way around. I hope I'm wrong, but again we're talking about the TWU, here!
