The human side of management

YEP....it sure it. The employees funded the merger and will NOT settle for anything less than MAJOR improvements. Been there, Heard it, Seen it and don't give a fat rats ass what excuses they come up with[/b]. The employees are ticked off, tired, over worked and WILL NOT settle. Take that to the bank! The f/a's are in mediation and will take their strike vote. It may not be immediate but the group will do whatever it takes. What you see here will NOT last forever.

Describing the view from the mirror are we ?

You know it's kind of an interesting thread. A story and a point if I may. Back before Obama was elected I had the opportunity to sit next to Eric Holder who is now the AG. A nicer man you'll never meet. We had a pretty long on board delay so I got to talk to him for a bit. Thing that impressed me most was he was desperate to get home to see his daughter. Called her every 15 minutes like clock work. Very impressive to me at least. I genuinely like Eric Holder based on that one chance encounter.

Now here is where it gets interesting. As time went on and he assumed his post as AG, I began to despise his positions and actions on behalf of the Obama Administration.

So how does that little story relate to this thread? Well I've heard this from numerous people who have no reason to lie that Doug Parker is a very warm and affable guy who is great to sit down and have a beer with. The OP's post bears this out. Just as with Mr Holder I do not share his vision for the country and I don't share Doug's for the Airline.

A beer? 🙄 I usually don't dwell on that indiscretion of his, but couldn't resist,

Yup, I am sure that he is a very nice man and fun to have dinner and drinks with. And I will grant that he is a very sharp numbers guy indeed and would be a great CFO. As for his leadership skills and direction for the airline, my view is not positive at all.

He is no Gordon Bethune or Herb Kellerher. (But he is not a Lorenzo or Icahn, either.)

Mr. Doug Parker is a benefactor, a visionary, and a benevolent genius. Just ask the 30,000 families that still have an income on the East Coast. Without Mr. Parker, their lives would be much darker. Thanks D.P.!

Stay on point and DON'T GIVE AN INCH!!!

Don't forget to give Bruce Lakefield credit as well.

Look, I don't believe everything Parker says but I do believe him when he says that US and HP needed - and saved - each other. Benevolent and genious are not really the first words that come to mind. But you are right, the airline is still in business and muddling through (as always).

So because US has a cost advantage due to its payscales, they should raise their payscales and eliminate their advantage?

That's some solid logic there

That is the type of logic that put US Airways in bancruptcy not once but twice.

Please, DP didn't create this airline, and his leadership sucks!

Would they? I'd argue that your statement is the biggest Crock-O-Shite posted outside the Pilot thread.

I know a reserve F/A who had a W-2 of just over $22K last year after ten years service. My old G/F aka Sweet Thang, makes mid 30's as an assistant Manager at freaking Wendy's. FedExKinko's would pay her more where I live now.

Top of Scale Agent makes about $40k without OT. There are customer service supervisor positions out here that pay in the $50K range.

The average A & P Mechanic can make double twisting wrenches at the local Audi store if he/she is any good and fast. Good flat rate mechanic can easily do 6 figures AND work day shift. None of this seniority crap, if you're the best wrench in the place then the service manager gives you the plum jobs.

Express Ramp pays between $13.50 and $14/hour? Most of the manufacturing jobs out here start around that number.

Sometimes, from a strictly dollars and sense perspective I think the employees long term would have been better off if the company went tits up.

I was with you until those two points. Express ramp starts out lower than that. Where I really have to digress is ob your last one. While many a US frontline person may have been better off had he/she started doing something else after high school or college - instead of at Allegheny, PSA, or Piedmont, starting over at age 40 would be a great drop for most. And pity a 50 year old trying to start over these days. She'd be lucky to get a job working the drive up window for Sweet Thang.

I've been out and about enjoying the incredible weather so I didn't bother coming on here. Now that I'm home relaxing and reading what I have I think I'll just keep my comments to myself. No need to say anything here as this entire thread speaks for itself. Enjoy. 😉

Who's fukcing problem is that Sparrohawk? Maybe she could go to college? Maybe a more intelligent career trajectory would have been the wiser choice?

How much are you willing to pull out of your household income to "right the wrong" here?

I'll tell you how much.....ZERO!

Doug Parker is not in the business of babysitting the willful. Nobody is.

Good then I guess you don't object to a Date of Hire Seniority List then do ya? Maybe a more intelligent career trajectory would have been the wiser choice?

It's people like you who perpetuate the old jokes like

Q:What separates a Flight Attendant from the scum of the Earth?
A:The Cockpit door!

Thanks for the pointless, incoherent reply.

Sorry. Must have missed it.
Again, HOW MUCH MONEY ARE YOU PERSONALLY WILLING TO PART WITH SO YOUR FRIEND CAN TAKE HOME WHAT THEY THINK THEY ARE WORTH?

Being that you apparently think this is an injustice, you shouldn't have a problem answering a simple fukcing question. How much of your $$$ again?

Is there really a need to resort to profanity?
