ding! ding! ding! ding! no more callers. it looks like we have a winner. Tempe once again has its head buried in the sandbox and is making the US product even less competitive.

Get a few Elite's with some posters at PHL, call the local media and I am sure doug will hear us.

I guess it's taken a few people by surprise. The crowded overhead space, should be a temporary problem for now. The company recognized this as part of the reconfiguration of the East a/c, hopefully a remedy can be obtained soon. Sorry about that, but the reconfiguration is a necessary revenue generator.
What do you mean temporary? Are there plans to move the A/V equipment/safety equipment/whatever else is preventing the use of the overheads, or do you mean we will get used to it? If they are going to "remedy the reconfiguration" is there a timetable? Thanks.

Look, I'm all for the HP mgt team saving USAirways, because in essense they did...but now they need to adapt to USAirways business methodology because the HP way simply will not work out East.
If the East way "worked" they would not have needed to be "saved".

Keeping the USAirways name was a huge mistake as it lead customers and employees alike to expect things to remain the way they always had been when they cannot and will not. And all the complaining in the world won't make US manangement embrace a failing business model.

ZIINNNNGGGG!!!!!

Nice try, but not quite. How is it every other network carrier is upgrading services and making a nice profit on premium international and domestic services? The old US network suffered from an absolutely lack of leadership and strategy combined with a cost structure that was way out of wack. Had the old US been able to hang in there, it would be profitable today, based on the numbers we've been seeing in the quarterly reports.

If you don't want to offer a true First product, then don't. But don't charge UA fares and offer nothing near the same product.

I'm looking forward to having my first confrontation with a F/A because there is a crew bag in the FC bins and no room for mine.

Let the games begin......

Just curious - have you had this problem before? Only reason I ask is that the F/A's I flew with on the 737 were good about putting their bags in the galley (never any meals on the 737) or coach OHB's. I don't remember ever seeing a working F/A put their bags in the F/C OHB's (but maybe that's a CLT thing.....)

With the removal of the closet, where I have seen crew bags, I'm sure they will be using any available space to stowe their bags. 5 crew members can't fit all of their stuff in the galley now can they?

I'm just getting prepared.

Being prepared is always a good thing - the Boy Scouts could teach us all a few things.

Like I said, I was just curious. Plus I hadn't thought about the closet removal aspect. The F/A's have to have their emergency manual accessable and seem to usually carry it in their tote bags. The A & C F/A on the 737 usually put their totes in the fwd closet.

You will probably see flight attendant totes in the overheads due to the fact that we are required to keep our bags with our manuals in them close by. If we have to grab it quickly for a cabin prep we can't be running through the cabin opening overheads to find it. Passengers sometimes move our bags. Rollerboards from crew in the f/c overhead is a definate no.

A west airbus pilot once told me on a trip, HP stands not for Happy People... but Horrible Product... guess it's nearly true, I'm sure it will be all coach before long:eek:(
Wasn't US all coach until a few months before the merger with PI?

I have a question for West F/As. Do you guys NOT carry your passports at all times? Because we are required to carry ours regardless of where we are flying to/from since it is part of P/P and also because of possible diversions. If you let your passport expire inadvertantly, you are removed from the active list. It is also a part of our briefing as part of the must-haves...ID, manual, passport, etc...Does not matter if you are only going to Paris, Texas.
I think it's been a mandatory item since the start up of Costa Rica. So maybe 2 1/2 years. I had to renew mine in 1999, but since it was not a mandatory item at the time, they would not reimburse the renewal fee.

sky high states: Remain the same? Bull!
Most U employees have been through the past TWO MERGERS. If we had any "expectations", it was that we werent looking forward to ALL THE MISTAKES made like the past two previous mergers! We dont expect things to remain status quo, but dont expect us to stand by silently and watch Management make MISTAKES in this merger. We've been there, done that. It's exhausting to the employees and drives passengers away!

only stating opinions.

I have a suggestion, take out 2 rows in coach, provide more leg room add a 5th row to F/C bump the base fair by $5 and market it properly and you will make a heck of a lot more money then adding those extra 8 seats and pissing off their best customers. With an 80% load rate they could do it. IMHO
