Teamsters

Better be glad the Reamsters were not voted in. They would have went after pension money for thier FAILED pension funds. The central states is the largest by far and they just got screwed.

Pension cuts

Some will loose half their monthly checks.Very sad.
I read the pension article. I see the possibility of the IAMPF heading that way in the future unless they start picking up more contributors before the influx of guys start drawing from it. With the Teamsters it was a combination of bad management of investment and lack of oversite. They too are not getting the amount of contributions to keep the pensions solvent. No one trusts union pensions anymore. They are not the same as they used to be 30 years ago. I have family members collecting union pensions from other labor unions. Their money keeps rolling in.

You are correct. I have an 88 year old relative collecting a Teamsters pension that is facing cuts. Who in their right mind would have signed a Teamster card knowing about their pension problems?

Oh.. about 5,000 AMT'S at AA who believed the bull from the Teamsters supporters. The sad thing is they would probably do it again.

I see the ASSociation trying to bamboozle the AA people into the IAMPNF.

I spoke to Gary and Gary a while back. They said the iam guys are pushing it for their own interest. He said if it's in the T/A he will do what ever he can to shoot it down before we see it. I still wonder if the negotiators have any leverage on this issue. If it's given as an option to the 401K match I'm sure many will be satisfied going that route. But to force it on us and take away the 401K match is unacceptable. It would be self serving from the IAM and nothing to lose from the TWU side.

If they want to make it OPTIONAL and people want to voluntarily participate, I see no problem there. But to even think that it would be a negotiable item in exchange for a 401k match, then NO deal.

I believe most of us would want the option. In my opinion and I've heard others say the same, one reason for the association was to save the IAMNPF pension fund from going insolvent if the contributions stop. It may be funded now but when it's time to pay out what will the status be. Based on this I feel that the association will try to force it on us. I hope I'm wrong.

I will not join the IAMPF without credited service.
You will vest immediately, you wont get credit for years not in the plan, no pension does that.

Then if it is that simple and the IAM , 1/2 of the Association owns the pension, where does the other 1/2 come into play?

Lets throw out the Dove Tailing of the Seniority List and put the TWU at the top, makes as much sense as having TWU mechanics save the IAM pension....

And if I vest immediately, then my fellow Associate from the IAM lost what 5 years he had to vest?

The twYOU helped the reamsters to spoil the AMFA drive and you 'sheeple' want to change to the ibt..... Incredible!
They filed short of cards to preempt  the AMFA card filing.
P.S. The 'company' helped them.
Geeze folks...........

Your correct. It was so obvious what was going on but all I kept hearing was sign both cards it can't hurt. Any union is better than the TWU. May the better union win. Meaning the AMFA or the Teamsters. That was the best drive we had for momentum coming from Tulsa. The TWU knew it and asked for help. The rest is history. We as AMT'S collectively are a bunch of idiots. There I said it.

Many will disagree, but i would rather have the IBT than the association. At least then we would be dealing with one union.
