Teamsters filed at USAir for representation

Because AMFA has been able to keep the wages high, WN only has three lines of heavy with a fourth starting for a fleet of 589 planes.

Do the math, they outsource most of their work, AA, US or even UA will give you WN's wages, if you give them WN's workrules.

I have never disputed what SWA has farmed out. It's 70-75%. It has always been that range of percentile no matter what union was here. But AMFA is the only union that has been successful in bringing in house 2 of the 4 heavy lines of maint. as well as several other lines of maint from mod lines to "C" checks, and some future "C" checks coming in from the AT purchase from the direct language that AMFA nego into contract. No other union can say or claim anything like this at SWA, not even the teamsters that were here for well over 20 years. BTW AMFA has also been very successful here for adding headcount the most of all unions together that have been here. SWA said many years ago that they will pay us industry leading wages as long as they can continue run the company as lean as possible like they have been able to for the last 40 plus years. This has been very beneficial to the members as SWA never tries to over hire like the other airlines and put their employees on roller coaster rides of lay-off after lay-offs...

Do you do anything more than a C in-house?

And the IAM was successful in bringing work back in the house during the TA, 50% of billable hours.

So AMFA isnt the only union who has brought work back in-house.

You still outsource more heavy than US or most any other airline, that is why your wages can be high as they dont have the labor costs and overhead.

US offered the IAM in 99 the WN CBA, which would have given everyone a nice raise, but layoff 3/4 of the mechanics.

According to WN this is the total maintenance headcount 3,208, how many of those are A&Ps?

Yes we do a lot more than just "C" checks. However, our maint is done under a new category of check titles called "Y" checks. Anything from 6Y's to 24Y's. UPS doesn't even do anything heavier than a "B" check. They do not do even "C" checks. They basically kick tires over night and lube and then send them off to the air.
That is fantastic that the IAM has brought in maint back in house. Not disputing that fact at all.
Also not disputing the fact that we outsource more than anyone OTHER than UPS.
Now addressing the 1999 statement, I really don't think you guys at US wanted our wages at SWA back in 99. The absolute top out at that time was around 25-27. If I am not mistaken we were among the lowest in the industry. So why would this offer even have been made? I will still keep my contract with my union (AMFA) and company (SWA) as long as I keep the job security that we enjoy here at Southwest Airlines as employees, period, thank you very much...

I also forgot to mention to "WRITE-IN AMFA" when you get your ballot, OR, when you get your chance to vote!!!

After unelected Teamster Boss Captain David Bourne blew off US Airways Mechanics and Related employees in last night's conference call, the Teamsters rolled out the propaganda machine regarding pensions.

There was alot of "ifs" and "shoulds" but nothing of substance. The bottom line is a vote for the Teamsters is a vote to lose your guaranteed IAM pension for Teamster hot-air promises.
Check out the video below and hear from 25-year United Mechanic Jim Seitz regarding the Teamster promises and the actual results. Sadly, it will sound all too familiar.
Voting will start as early as today and the reality is if you don't vote IAM you stand to lose a great deal. - See more at: http://www.usaamerge...F.NmfcP6Gn.dpuf

Sad but true!
Give em He11 Jim... :p

I doubt the ibt or amfa will win, people arent going to give up their pension.

And the ibt had a conference call last night, this is what was said.
LOOKS LIKE THE IAM IS BACK TO LIES AGAIN!

If AMFA is so bad or screwed up as bad as you say.........
Why are the AMT's at SWA and Alaska NOT looking to get rid of AMFA?
TWU and IAM have pissed off the membership to the point we want to replace them.
Has that happened at SWA and Alaska?
Actions are more creditable than talk.
I SEE YOUR MUD SLINGING BUDDY TURNED ON YOU LOL!

Seems like I struck a nerve travis.

It seems those are your opinions, not facts.

Guess Bourne's cell phone wasnt working?

The law states you have to have five complete years in a pension plan to be vested, gee why does the ibt lie?

How come after almost five years the PMUA mechanics have no pension?

Furloughees have contacted the IAM and told them what the ibt said, and I have heard they are contacting the authorities about identity theft information.

Frontier mechanics age $1.10 which is a $27 multiplier, the IAM is at almost $86.00

Teamsters having a bit of a challenge with the NMB for an election at AA.
Doubtful there will be an election at AA.

For the furloughees at US, beware the teamsters slick handed dealings.

While it is true that we at UAL still have our lifetime recall rights, the ibt screwed over our furloughees by inserting a new type of seniority into our latest agreement, "PAY" seniority, and by increasing our time to top out from 5 to 7 years.

For example, under our UAL CBA before the teamsters, if you were laid off after only 3 years with the company, and then recalled 10 years later, you returned with 13 years seniority, and at top scale wages.

Same example under the current ibt agreement, you only accrue seniority for 90 days after layoff.

Most of us are tired of the IAM and their concession after concession after concession contracts!
We are keep in the dark and feed bullshi# like good little IAM drones most of the time and beat to the ground from the Company and IAM concessions.
We have been used to hold other airlines AMT's pay down due to our pay being so low due to our unions (IAM) failure to get us a industry leading contract.
Now the IAM want's to have a coalition with the TWU who has just got done beating the AA AMT's into the ground with low pay and concessions.
The IBT got UAL a 75,000.00$ buyout and signing bounces of 15,000.00$. We did not get any thing close as the IAM gave way our profit sharing .

Now we go for a vote and the IAM tries to hold a gun to our heads, misleads and twist the truth about the IBT at ever corner to cover up the IAM failure as our union.

ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE!
