I'm not sure exactly what your guys negotiated. They pay raise was from Doug, not the TWU. If I'm not mistaken, you guys always had six weeks of vacation, unlike the rest of us who had a week taken away. I will give you they "negotiated" and got three sick days back. I will also confess that they were able to bring back five more holidays and get them paid at double time. Other than that, I'm not sure what they got for you. I honestly believe if you take those two negotiated items away and just ran with the 40% increase in pay that was given by the company, you still would have passed the T/A...Bogey said:Our local negotiators worked hard. Did we get everything I wanted, no, we didn't. But it will be nice for the first time in a long career where I won't have to say or hear, "we'll get em next time".
There are dispatch centric things that were negotiated that have no relation to what you do, so I did not include them. If it passes, it will be made public and you can go in and disect it. But at the end of the day we are higher paid, work less hours then everyone of our peers except Southwest. They make more money.AANOTOK said:I'm not sure exactly what your guys negotiated. That is all anyone can ask, so long as it does not mean crossing a picket line. That will happen at AA, ....not withing the next 2 years...or never, whichever comes first.Bogey said:Bottom line is this, I will continue to review the entire agreement and decide if this is a good deal for my family and I.
I can assure you the next employee would take this job and agreement in a heartbeat. It would be a 35 year career of no complaints.Glenn Quagmire said:That is all anyone can ask, so long as it does not mean crossing a picket line. However, should you sell out the next generation of employees to get your next raise?
Thank you for the updates.
I was always led to believe that the leadership was to only bring back what was best for the membership and then we vote on it. Are we suppose to shoulder that responsibility too?AANOTOK said:I was always led to believe is you vote on whats best for the membership and future members. Have I been duped all these years and now it's about our families...sorry Bogey, not directed at you. Good luck and do indeed vote in a way the benefits your family first and foremost!!
You would jeopardize your family's welfare for another union if they were striking for something unreasonable? Not MeAANOTOK said:I was always led to believe is you vote on whats best for the membership and future members. My point was I vote on what is best for my family...by the way, I have learned that I never ever tell anyone how I voted. Period!Bogey said:I was always led to believe that the leadership was to only bring back what was best for the membership and then we vote on it. Are we suppose to shoulder that responsibility too?
Sorry, I misunderstood your point. But I do understand why you wouldn't share how you vote.AANOTOK said:My point was I vote on what is best for my family...by the way, I have learned that I never ever tell anyone how I voted. Period!
Thank you. I have not read your agreement and was not proposing that you should vote any way.Bogey said:I was always led to believe that the leadership was to only bring back what was best for the membership and then we vote on it. Are we suppose to shoulder that responsibility too?
So Bogey saying that he's getting a 40% raise and the rest of the contract is just going to take some getting used to would mean Worldport would be selling out his profession if he supported something like that because the company is making Billions and some people feel we should demand more?Glenn Quagmire said:Thank you. I am simply saying that some, in the past, have sold out the future generations for quick gains.
And Worldport, you speak just like all the scabs that set back the profession for a generation.
Just bend over and take what is offered, and enjoy. All while the corporation is making billions per quarter.
Every contract is going to have its yes supporters and it's no supporters. And plenty are going to be quite vocal about it, so that's up to the individual to chose his side if he wants to do it publicly or not.Bogey said:Sorry, I misunderstood your point.
