Statement from IAM

QUOTE(700UW @ Feb 15 2006, 08:55 AM)

If the IAM has to represent them it is done at the Local level then the District, the IAM only has to represent them if the company takes any action against them.

Anything that is done is confidential and by law (Duty of Fair Representation) they have to legally represent if the company takes action against any member.

Indeed the IAM must represent them. The question to really ask is "How Zealously will the IAM represent them"? If you see the IAM bring out their biggest guns (Best Lawyers), appeal after appeal then that will tell you if they support their actions. Just follow the money. The more IAM spends the more it indicates their support of the actions taken by the 25 folks in PHL.

If they send one lawyer with the ink still wet on his bar exam. That will tell you the opposite. Anyone taking bets on which way this goes?

To what extent is the unions obligation to these individuals? Job related only?? What happens when/if criminal charges are filed?? Is the union obligated to represent them then?? Federal charges - union obligations?? What if the union as a whole is found to be involved?? Will the represent themselves?? Aren't members dues for this legal representation?? Money out of the pot, out of the pension plan?? Dues increase in the future?? Wow.........legal representation at whatever level for 25 or more individuals!! Plus whatever else may be uncovered!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Here you go again posting misinformation about things you have no idea about.

I suggest you educate yourself instead of posting totally inaccurate statements.

The IAMNPF is not controlled by the IAM nor does the IAM have access to the funds. It is controlled by IAM and Management Trustees and a Fund Director, it is a totally separate entity.

Only dues money is used for representation. Then union does not represent them in a criminal case.

I would suggest you educate yourself on the meaning of a question mark.
question mark
n.
A punctuation symbol (?) written at the end of a sentence or phrase to indicate a direct question. Also called interrogation point.
All but the last 2 sentences have question marks at the end. Questions are being asked. If you cannot or are not willing to answer them, fine. Someone else will/may.

That's good because the LL1776 website states "our Local Lodge has taken action to become more active politically in PHL. We have strong ties with City Hall." You have to wonder if this would/could have been swept under the rug had it stayed in the Philly D.A.'s hands.

They also have an ad for a law firm right on their home page. Does the Firm pay to advertise there or what? In any case it looks like the Firm will be busy now.

Boy you need to wake-up: AS YOU JUST POSTED AND SAID "IAMNPF is not controlled by the IAM" then who is the IAM here? "It is controlled by IAM and Management Trustees and a Fund Director,"

Here you go again posting misinformation about things you have no idea about.

I suggest you educate yourself instead of posting totally inaccurate statements.

So could you please tell us all the differents between them?

sounds like the IAM will need to raise the dues to say about 50 or 60 a month just to support the lawyers involved!!!! :p

Surprised I am. Nearly 24 hours since these questions were posed. And no answers. Or is robbedagain onto something???

It only answered this question,
Money out of the pot, out of the pension plan?
What about the other 9 questions?

Someone calling for more rags.

See I'm always reluctant to "invest" in an otganization that spends all of its time telling everyone how bad the other guys are. Instead I ask why are you so great? Enlighten us please.
Good observation, thats all the IAM can do.
